NGV prices for all vehicles, except taxis, to rise by 1 baht from Friday

Thailand’s Energy Policy Committee has decided to increase the retail price of NGV for vehicles by 1 baht/kg, to 17.59 baht, effective from Friday, according to Energy Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow.


He said that the price increase will not affect taxis in PTT Public Company’s “Same Breath” programme, under which they can buy the NGV at 13.62 baht/kg until March 15th.


The retail price of LPG, or cooking gas, remains unchanged at 408 baht per 15kg tank and this price will remain until the end of January.


Supattanapong said that the committee managing the Oil Fuel Fund has been instructed to adjust the fund to be in line with the LPG pricing, in the wake of global LPG price fluctuations.


The LPG price on the world market on November 29th was US$633.60 per ton, being sold at only US$9.5 baht for per 15kgs in Thailand. This translates to a loss of about 1.35 billion baht per month for the Oil Fuel Fund, bringing the accumulated losses for LPG alone to 43.88 billion baht.


The minister also appealed to oil traders to maintain the marketing fee for high-speed diesel at 1.40 baht per litre, to ease the financial burden on the consumers.

Wait a second. Don't a lot of trucks use NGV? and everything transported by trucks
Wouldn't an increase if fuel prices increase transportation costs and as such the price of consumer goods?
Perhaps maybe we should care?
