Trudeau has been sticking up to China and not letting them get their way. Mostly because Canada is pissed about this.

Don't be fucking silly, we aren't talking about expats. They will put up with shit and take the money because they know they can leave any time.
That depends how invasive the chinkies "peacekeeping" is, doesn't it?As far as a mass exodus from HK is concerned- are you serious?
If they go around spiriting away people based on anti-government tweets, then fucking right there will be an exodus.
Consistently? He's done it once. And it should be expected of a PM to not interfere with the justice system. I agree that the capitulators are spineless.
Now, how many measures has he taken, up until this one, that actually have any teeth? Sanctions, diplomat expulsions, etc.?
Which is precisely why they won't. But the verbal and physical assaults of Chinese people, the wanton vandalism of transport & educational infrastructure and merchants linked to the PRC (or who spoke out against the protests), the trampling & burning of Chinese flags- and flouting of US & UK flags, and the ridiculous calls for independence (which HK people absolutely do not want) did not exactly go down well in the Mainland- or with the majority in HK.That depends how invasive the chinkies "peacekeeping" is, doesn't it?

The protesters got what they wanted- a repeal of the extradition bill. At that point, the reasonable protesters went home. Job done, and well done- they had got the PRC to bend to their wishes. Remaining however were a hard core, violent rump of the permanently disaffected- underpinned by Bigotry and Hatred. According to my resident sources, the majority in HK were disgusted by them. HK people value their safety- it is one of the safest places in the world.
Again, sabang and I seem to have quite different friends in HK as the ones I know are very worried that their way of life is being fundamentally changed and that the all-knowing CCP jackboots will rule ruthlessly . . . and they also know that as foreigners they are a mere flea to be stomped on without problems
Sebang post his opinion, without none relevant attacks.
His most "violent" expression.
Your post utilises more disrespect and evil implications of just one. Every country's government's, sovereign or vassal, could be labelled similarly. Including the UK and Canadian.
Why not respond with an informative/amusing reply? You are able to, if you choose.
Currently it is the ameristani government which is creating the largest "change" in their "lifestyles" by unilaterally disposing of a cornerstone to HK's way of life. How is the new Chinese law removing your;
legal rights?
As are all resident foreigners worldwide, irrespective of their current "agreement to remain". They do of course have the ability to return to their country of origin, or maybe if prudent, have a choice of multiple legal choices of "escape".
Subject to financial and personal relationship issues.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
Well, my sample group are all Permanent Residents. In other words, they have right of abode in HK. One (my ex-wife actually) is a Hongkie barrister, one HK born and mixed English/ Chinese, two my former partners in biz, and one outlier lives in Hampshire but still visits twice yearly with his Chinese wife, ex senior ICAC guy. They all whistled the same tune.
Chinese are well trained and will jump over a stick or shit in the corner their told to.
Twitter data-mining tool Dataminr fed police real-time info on Black Lives Matter protesters, despite promises not to spy
"An analytics firm parsing Twitter data in real time for law enforcement and media has been caught funneling detailed info on anti-police-brutality marches to the very agencies users are protesting, despite promises not to.
Dataminr, a CIA-funded artificial intelligence startup that mines Twitter’s real-time content stream for behavioral patterns and other analytics, has been caught feeding info on police brutality protesters from that “firehose” stream back to law enforcement. While the developers had promised they wouldn’t enable domestic surveillance after a series of scandals in 2016, Dataminr is once again doing just that, the Intercept revealed on Thursday, slurping up Twitter data from participants in the ongoing George Floyd demonstrations and sending it to the very authorities those people are protesting.
Twitter has vocally supported Black activists and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. But that is not enough. In this fight for racial justice, @Twitter must act decisively to prevent the government from exploiting the platform to surveil and target the company’s users. pic.twitter.com/98wEwsKH4P

The app was forced to promise it would not use its privileged access to Twitter data to enable domestic surveillance in 2016 after the company was caught feeding law enforcement “fusion centers” – liaison offices between federal and local police – real-time information from Twitter’s firehose. This capability, which Dataminr bragged about in its marketing materials, flagrantly violated Twitter’s own policy against weaponizing user data for surveillance purposes. ...."

Some have rules and uphold them, and some have rules and ignore them.
Who is the greatest threat, who has proven "previous" in such matters ?
1. The ameristanis have laws passed by their legislators, that prohibit many such things. Which have now been publicly admitted that the named company and historically many other ameristani companies, have broken.
2. The Russians and Chinese have laws passed by their legislators, that prohibit many such things. Which have not been publicly admitted that any of their companies have broken.
Lay out security law guidelines for Hong Kong teachers
"Local political scientist Mervyn Cheung Man-ping said school adminstrators and the Education Bureau should cooperate in setting principles for teachers as to what they can't do in consideration of the National Security Law, and take the initiative to ensure the law is fully complied with."
Lay out security law guidelines for Hong Kong teachers: Political scientist - Chinadaily.com.cn
There is a video at the link in which an academic suggests that guidelines should be published to ensure the "correct" lessons should be to the HK students.
What "guidelines" have our teachers here on TD, received, during their foreign assignments?
