We already have 35,000 new cases worldwide today. The US has 8,000 of them.
It's painfully evident that this is going to keep rising exponentially, even if a global lockdown takes place today.

...and...On Monday, International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound told USA Today the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will be postponed, likely to 2021. The IOC did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and it was unclear if Pound was speaking officially for the organization.

A statement released by UEFA on Monday confirmed that the Champions League final, Europa League final and the women's Champions League final. Crucially, no decision has been made on the rearranged dates even though it was less than a week ago that UEFA said they were hoping to complete the domestic and European calendars by the end of June.

I expect loads of Chinese takeaways and restaurants have gone under in the last week.
Infact there appears to be a fair bit of racism directed at anybody who looks Chinese this past month in the UK.
Nearly time for Boris to make his speech...
^^^ That's ridiculous, but every country has it's Hermans. Actually I went out for a nice Chinee last Friday, in anticipation of a shutdown. Unfortunately bat soup & pangolin were off the menu.
Lets hope we don't have a repeat of that intellectual giant in the US, who went out to kill a Muslim- and murdered a Sikh.Infact there appears to be a fair bit of racism directed at anybody who looks Chinese this past month in the UK.
I suppose in a country where senior politicians accused Saddam Hussein of plotting 911, anythings possible.

The death toll in Italy has fallen for the second consecutive day while the rate of infections in Germany has started to level off. A little bit of relatively good news...
The planet is getting a well earned rest at the moment with air travel curtailed.
Maybe this is nature's way of giving us a big warning.
I'm gonna use the next 3 weeks positively spending quality time with my family and maybe getting some decent "social distancing" bike rides in.
Time for a Chess game with my daughter, wish me luck.
Another mass shopping spree today then.Shopping is only permitted for essentials like food and medicine, and people are advised to do it “as little as you can”
Not mentioned but it appears that the, "All should return home now" option, for all overseas UK citizens, no longer exists.
Some maybe living "long time" or working overseas!
No mention of airports or sea ports being open. Supermarkets, chemists, banks and post offices only, was the list IIRC. One hopes the ATM fillers are still working.
Maybe "private jet" passengers/crew or those on their embassies "cross all borders" list, are exempt such "inconveniences".

Thai Buddhist monks give lucky charms to devotees to protect them from Covid-19
Newsflare
Buddhist monks gave out lucky charms to protect their religious followers from the coronavirus.
Phisutthi Rattanaphon, the abbot at Wat Theraplai temple, Suphan Buri, central Thailand, handed out the orange holy papers which had been blessed to visitors for free, on Monday morning (March 23).
Monk Phisutthi said they put spells on the letters along with pictures of holy spirits that will keep worshipers safe from the coronavirus. He said: "We have been giving away the holy amulets for the Buddhist devotees for them to be spiritually protected and be safe from the virus. "Moreover, they can count on the holy spirit in their minds. I wish they would be less stressed about the news and concentrate on living their lives in healthy ways."
Monks said that a ''magical'' letter is printed with pictures of holy Buddhist spirits and spells. The abbot Phisutthi added that the temple welcomes all visitors who want to take the holy papers, but before enter the gate, they have to do a temperature check. He said: "Worshipers will not only be given the spiritual letters, they will also get free surgical masks. All the temple staff are paying attention to hygiene.''
Majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd
Until we have a clearer picture of what we're actually dealing with, lockdowns cannot be premature; the first was weeks late imho, because in a situation such as this it must be easier to start from a difficult and painful but safer position, than it is with our current crop of miserable leaders content to unpack a few bandaids after the virus is already loose on their turf.
So yes, kudos to Spain, less fawning over rights and more of the fcuking do it or get nicked. You never know some of the thicker skulls might follow, when the counts breech their political pain threshold.
