So Italy has cancelled four Serie A games today because of the outbreak.
A third passenger off the Diamond Princess has died.
Not so much of a worry as they've been in quarantine since they got back:
Four further patients in England have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the UK to thirteen.
The virus was passed on in the Diamond Princess cruise ship and the patients are being transferred from Arrowe Park to specialist NHS infection centres.

The coronavirus that originated in China will have a negative impact on the global economy even if it is rapidly contained, and it would be prudent to prepare for more significant consequences, the head of the IMF said.
International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, in a statement issued after a meeting of finance officials from the world’s 20 largest economies, called for coordinated action to contain the human and economic impact of the virus.

Chinese Premier Xi Jinping said the coronavirus situation in China is still “serious and complex,” according to a Reuters translation of state media. He also said that the country would maintain a “prudent” monetary policy, and would introduce new policy measures in a timely way, Reuters reported.
Xi said the epidemic was a major public health emergency with “the fastest spread, the widest range of infections, and the most difficult prevention and control in China” since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, according to state media.
China is the epicenter of the new coronavirus, with 76,936 cases and 2,442 deaths on the mainland as of Feb. 22. Many businesses and schools remain shut, with economists predicting an economic growth slowdown for the country of $1.4 billion.

Here in Thailand many factories are not allowing employees or customers to enter them if you have traveled outside Thailand in the last 15 days. Plus they medical screen everyone entering.
While I am not confident on the accuracy of the numbers reported by the Thai govt, overall I think they have done a pretty decent job of managing it thus far.
Not really. I'm sure it's out there, somewhere, but the data we get should be broken down not just to numbers and location but importantly demographics, even though that risk triggering a far worse pc virus.
Who are the infected? Are they predominantly Chinese, or farangs, if farang then did they recently visit China or are known to have had direct contact with Chinese people? Who are the 600 SK infected? In this respect simply being in a country is meaningless, and it's pointless saying they are fex SKorean or German nationals if they're Chinese immigrants that just returned from a family visit back home.
Let's have some informative data, which may point us to demographic vulnerabilities.
Yes, you're right.
Coupang home delivery here is soaring; the wife noticed yesterday that the delivery driver (who parks outside, so the wife can check all his deliveries, how punctual he is, etc) had a full van whereas it's usually a quarter full; deliveries are taking a lot longer to arrive... The motorbike food delivery guys (have never seen a female rider in Korea) are also really busy. &, XGoats.com is always the best option although I did over the weekend, for the first ever time, pay for some AppleTV content... BTW, Apple TV (I've a UK registration) is three times more expensive for the films I looked at than Youtube in Korea; bloody iRapists...
Cycling should be banned!!!
Not need any virus here for the Grab app to boom, its just lazy bstards way to get what you need.
I
One of my idiot employees got back last night to Thailand after a short break in - South Korea.
She is now banned from work for 2 weeks, with the advise that she quarantines herself as much as possible..
"as much as possible"?
Doh.
Anyway, it's OK, Thailand says it will all be over by the end of April, and they're always right.
Thailand expects tourism to recover after new year festival
The acute respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) may subside in the second half of 2020 or earlier, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports Pipat Ratchakitprakan said on February 23, expecting that the country’s tourism would recover after its Songkran New Year festival.

Over 300,000 Chinese live in northern Italy.
When the going gets tough racism gets tougher.
Is it expected to die off, or hibernate, or some such fookin' thing once it gets warmer in Spring and Summer?
What if it doesn't, are 100's of million of people gonna spend the next 5 years locked in their home?
