Be interesting to hear why he thinks his new numbers will be any more accurate. In March this year, Dr. Prasit predicted that COVID-19 infections in Thailand would peak at over 100,000 with hundreds of fatalities by mid-April. To date, however, about 3,000 plus cases have been recorded with a death toll of 57.
Apologies, it took me 5 tries to copy the one I posted. Brazil and Colombia have continued their climb.
Great site for illustrating the data supplied.
It doesn't alter my conclusion that the 3rd world Asians and a couple of Oceania countries appear to have the winning hand, currently.
The cause of greater deaths appears to be the reluctance of many to act on the warnings from the warnings from China and the WHO.
Hated for what, having a country and citizens obeying the experts, the WHO's recommendations, instead of their uneducated "leaders"?
Looking at the last month, May, ASEAN plus China, South Korea and India, all except South Korea are 3rd world.:
Most are flat lining. Philippines and Indonesia still growing.
The unknowns are reducing and the known control methods have been tested and have, so far, been proved effective and adoptable by the Thais.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
And just when Trump is encouraging the army to shoot civilians, China is threatening retaliation towards the UK for their visa issue . . . we have India to provide headline relief:

From that study:
That report suggested that those with Type-2 diabetes are at higher risk than those with Type-1 but gives the caveat that there were only a limited number of patients with Type-1 in the study. Interstingly, I read the opposite in UK research a few weeks ago that suggested thos with Type-1 were more at risk than those with Type-2. As yet, it would appear that no-one has actually come up with a link between Diabetes and severe symptoms. Instead it would appear many of the elderly had diabetes as well as other complications. They add: "Elderly populations with long-term diabetes with advanced diabetic complications and/or treated obstructive sleep apnoea were particularly at risk of early death, and might require specific management to avoid infection with the novel coronavirus. BMI also appears as an independent prognostic factor for COVID-19 severity in the population living with diabetes requiring hospital admission. The link between obesity and COVID-19 requires further study."
Breathing difficulties, especailly when asleep, would appear to be much worse problems than diabetes.
Just my opinion of course.
It's all over the news how the Chinese dictator will retaliate against The UK . . . that is so very typical Chinese (I see the same attitude in my wife's family). China wants to imprison or troublemakers to leave. Taiwan offers them a place to live - the top Chinese general starts talking about invading Taiwan. The UK creates a path for possible immigration - China threatens draconian measures.
China is like a spoiled brat, a typical Chinese spoiled male brat - the little emperor.
It's all about loss of face
Terminate their investment in British nuclear power, ban Huawei, prohibit any PRC national from UK property ownership, ban tour groups and limit company ownership to no more than a minority holding.
PRC is a virus in every sense of the word.
Fuck 'em.
HooHoo, wipe away the tears and accept the truth. Your silly chinkies are spitting their dummy yet again.
They are almost as bad as baldy orange cunto. They should put him in charge of Chinastan, he wants to rule his people like an emperor too.
Meanwhile...
Trump Announces End To Hong Kong Privileges After China's Move : NPRThe United States is rescinding a number of special considerations for Hong Kong in retaliation for what Washington calls a naked power grab by China's central government.
President Trump announced a suite of changes Friday in what had been billed as a press conference but which turned out to be an on-camera statement, after which he took no questions.
Trump did not address other big national stories, including police violence in Minneapolis or his ongoing feud with Twitter.
He focused instead on his intent to revoke Hong Kong's special customs status, impose some sanctions on officials in the mainland and Hong Kong governments, and take other steps.

COVID survivor receives $840,000 statement for treatment, with more on the wayCENTENNIAL, Colo. — Robert Dennis spent weeks in the hospital, fighting and beating the coronavirus. He’s now back at home, working his way through recovery, but he’s not done with the virus entirely just yet. The high school teacher just received his first itemized statement for the cost of his care: $840,386.94.
“Seeing that number yesterday for the first bill it kind of took your breath away again,” Robert’s wife Suzanne, who also beat the virus, told Denver7.
The statement covers Robert’s time at Sky Ridge Medical Center, where he was in the intensive care unit and intubated for two weeks.
“His meds just at the hospital are a quarter million dollars,” Suzanne said.
What is not included is Robert’s three weeks at Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, or his wife’s trips to the emergency room when she was fighting the virus. The couple estimates their total bills to top one and a half million dollars.
Covid-19 spreading too fast to lift lockdown in England – Sage advisers
Government advisers have voiced unease over the decision to lift England’s lockdown while thousands of people a day are still becoming infected with the coronavirus, warning that loosening restrictions could easily lead to a second wave.
“We cannot relax our guard by very much at all,” said John Edmunds, a professor of infectious disease modelling at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine who attends meetings of Sage, the scientific advisory group on emergencies.
There are still 8,000 new infections every day in England without counting those in hospitals and care homes, Edmunds said. “If you look at it internationally, it’s a very high level of incidence.” World Health Organization statistics suggest it is the fifth highest in the world.

Meanwhile - back in America - we have populated active protests in the following cities: Atlanta, Bakersfield, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Des Moines, Detroit, Fort Wayne, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York City, Oakland, Richmond, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Washington DC.
The reason behind the protests is/are covered in another thread.
Now the protests may have started as peaceful protests but many have turned into chaotic rioting with confrontational interactions with the police - no social distancing or other Covid safety protocols being followed.
The USA Covid fatalities have established an unquestionable downward trend over the past few weeks.
The onset of Covid symptoms has been documented as early as 1 day and as late as 14 days with 5-6 days as the average for onset post exposure.
I watched several of the news clips concerning the protests - many, many protestors and many, many police in close proximity and very active. Face masks, well, quite a few gas masks were evident, not many face masks though.
The protests started Friday evening. So, will the cities hospitals see a large influx of potential new Covid cases come Wednesday, Thursday and Friday?
And yet this was an earlier report:
Coronavirus 'disappearing' so fast Oxford vaccine has 'only 50% chance of working' | UK News | Sky NewsThere is only a 50% chance of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine working because cases in the UK are declining so fast, one of the scientists behind it has warned.
The University of Oxford's Jenner Institute and the Oxford Vaccine Group began developing a COVID-19 vaccine in January using a virus taken from chimpanzees.
But with the number of UK coronavirus cases dropping every day, there may not be enough people to test it on, according to the institute's director Professor Adrian Hill.
He told The Sunday Telegraph: "It's a race against the virus disappearing, and against time. We said earlier in the year that there was an 80% chance of developing an effective vaccine by September.
"But at the moment, there's a 50% chance that we get no result at all. We're in the bizarre position of wanting COVID to stay, at least for a little while."
^ The UK are still publishing figures in the order of 2,000 cases a day. However, unlike other countries, they are not providing the number of active cases or the number of recoveries.
I'd say 2,000 cases a day is not a good threshold for reducing restrictions.
^^ That seems...ridiculous.
England has 54,000 new infections per week.
Is there a thread about Trump pulling the US out of the WHO? Like that's gonna help the US tackle the problem...
Anyway, the US can give one years notice and pay up, that the rules...
With luck, someone with a little more sense will be in the White House by then.
