Just found out there is a covid infection in my building.
This stuff is seriously underreported in Thailand.

^ what are you doing in Thailand???
& for today's weather forecast - it's grey skies, everywhere...
I'm a fucking idiot, sure.
But am I just supposed to leave a woman I married 3 days ago?
I dunno.
Richard Barrow reported that 3 immigration officers at CW got covid. Just imagine the horror show on the first day when thousands showed up for extension.
Oh, sorry, I shouldn't have posted on brexit thread
I'm okay with giving cargo rapid means of travel, and places to distribute it.
Do you have a graph showing passengers?
Coronavirus: U.S. Still Seeing Thousands Of Flights, Despite A Drop In Air Travel : Coronavirus Live Updates : NPRFlightradar24 illustrates the point in a pair of before-and-after images, showing a distinct drop in U.S. domestic traffic from Sunday, March 1 to Sunday, March 29. There were 4,000 fewer planes in the air on the later date — but that still meant some 2,800 flights were airborne.
Petchenik also notes that the site's tracking maps don't differentiate between cargo and passenger flights – an important point at a time when many Americans are turning online to stock up on products they might otherwise buy in person.
Apropos the stupidity of those responsible for that utter shambles at CW's outsourced immigration reception for those tourists caught up in the disaster, perhaps they'll now rethink their policy.
The bitter irony is of course the reason for it, to protect national security ( against thousands of tourists???), has actually undermined it by hastening the degree of contagion.
That video posted up by Tax was a horror show and a disgrace.

Thailand reports 136 new COVID-19 cases as new infection rate slows
The rise rate of new COVID-19 infections in Thailand has slowed down over the past three days, from 143 on Sunday to 136 on Monday and 127 today. Medical experts have, however, cautioned that the continuing rise, albeit slower, remains of concern because the contagion has now spread to 61 of the country’s 76 provinces.
Dr. Thaveesilp Wissanuyothing, at the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said today that the latest new infections bring the total in Thailand to 1,651, and the death toll has risen by one to 10.
He said that Bangkok is still the epicentre of the pandemic in the country, with 869 confirmed cases, followed by Nonthaburi with 79 and 56 in Phuket.
Regarding the boxing stadium and entertainment venue clusters, Dr. Thaveesilp said that rate of new infections from the two clusters is slowing, after the virus’s 14-day incubation period, “but there are still risks posed by an increasing number of Thais returning from abroad.”
He made clear that no harsher measures would need to be imposed if the public cooperate fully, by strictly observing and complying with the preventive measures already announced.
For work places which are still operating, Dr. Thaveesilp said the Government has sought cooperation from these businesses, by allowing their employees to work from home or take leave to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus.
According to the CCSA, 15 locations around the country with high infection rates are:
Bangkok 795 cases
Nonthaburi 79 cases
Phuket 55 cases
Yala 48 cases
Samut Prakan 41 cases
Chon Buri 40 cases
Pattani 33 cases
Songkhla 30 cases
Chiang Mai 22 cases
Pathum Thani 17 cases
Ubon Ratchathani 13 cases
Surat Thani 11 cases
Nakhon Ratchasima 11 cases
Buri Ram Surin 10 cases
Nakhon Pathom 10 cases
Kanchanaburi 9 cases
Samut Sakhon 9 cases

^ seems Laos now has a problem and blaming all the laos people going back to there country from Thailand.
Jeff, the current thinking is that the initial viral load infecting you is the key to how much you might be affected - early days but it seems that if one is cloistered with someone with the virus who is also suffering from a cold and sneezes in your face and you remain together for a significant time then you might need intubation and a new lung within a week but if you touched an infected handrail near to the bug's expiry date and scratch an itch in your nose then you might get away with mild cough and a bit of a headache for a week or so.
But antibody memory is a complex issue and will take months of controlled study and analysis before we get anywhere near a vaccine or treatment. Essentially, you are looking at next year.
Some interesting information about the virus itself. They provisionally estimate that one vaccine will do for this little bastard, rather than one that needs to be updated each year like the 'flu one. They caution, however, that they do need more data to confirm this.
Eight strains of coronavirus afflicting the world
And in Britain it seems there is a pattern emerging wherein those who voted to Brexit are more vulnerable to infection.
Running a bit low on fresh foods, meats and vegetables. Out of fruits so we did a Makro run - Nonthaburi. Considering it’s the end-of-the-month aka “payday” not really a preferred shopping time slot, but, what the hell.
Visited the Makro last Friday – place was packed – today empty. Relatively speaking. Friday, at about the same time, early AM the parking lot was almost full, there were long lines of heavily loaded carts at each open checkout counter. Today, there were only two counters open. Both had small lines. 5-10 minute wait to check out.
Interesting was the line for face masks. Long and wrapped around the aisle. Had to have fifty plus folk in line waiting. But, when we entered the store, after thermal scan and face mask verification we talked to customer service girl concerning face masks. She said she doesn’t know, then are supposed to get a daily delivery but sporadic – maybe, maybe not. Late today so they probably won’t get any. But, the long line of Thai’s were there for them if they did show up.
If the masks did show up the same protocol as Friday would apply – one pack of 4 per person THB 10. ID card required (my Thai drivers license was accepted Friday). Distributed masks logged into a computer to prevent hoarding or reselling.
Stock – all shelves seemed to be fully stocked less chicken eggs (quail eggs available) and canned fish. Several bare slots in the canned fish aisle.
Now, this is my local Makro. Not a busy Makro. Friday past the store was packed – had to be panic buying. Today, I would characterize the shopper load as very light. Usually mid-month and month-ends are busy due to paydays. Today – no. I chalk the unusually light payday shopping to earlier panic buying and unemployment.
Beware the shopping load when, well – if, the government starts providing subsidized pay.

Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro said on Monday that there can be no more quarantine measures imposed on the country than those already in place to combat coronavirus because jobs are being destroyed and the poor are suffering disproportionately.
Speaking to Rede TV, Bolsonaro criticized self-isolation and other measures imposed by local authorities to limit the spread of the virus, a view that again appeared to put him at odds with Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mendetta.
Mendetta on Monday urged Brazilians to maintain maximum social distancing to ease the strain on the fragile health system and said that 200 million personal protective equipment (PPEs) items would be arriving from China next month.
"You can't impose any more quarantine than there already is," Bolsonaro said, adding that the question people ask him most is when can they return to work.

Brazil had more deaths per day than Italy, currently the country with the most deaths from the coronavirus pandemic, since the first death was recorded, according to a BBC News Brasil survey based on data from the Worldometer platform.
Until Sunday (March 29), the country registered 136 deaths (98 in the State of São Paulo only) related to covid-19, the disease caused by the new virus.
The first death in Brazil was registered on March 17, in São Paulo.
In that same period of time (13 days), Italy accounted for 107 deaths, or eight a day, since its first death (February 21).
Since the confirmation of the first coronavirus case until last Sunday (March 29), Brazil recorded 136 deaths. Italy, about 10.8 thousand.

Thailand to give free mobile data for those homebound by coronavirus

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand will give the public free mobile data as companies initiate work-from-home policies and schools use remote learning amid the coronavirus outbreak, a senior government official said on Tuesday as operators considered investment to expand capacity.
“Individuals can register for 10 gigabytes (GB) of mobile data each month starting April 10,” said Takorn Tantasith, secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission. The commission would compensate the operators, a spokesman said separately, but no details were available.
Thailand’s main three mobile operators did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
“The government is giving the data so the public can stay home and limit the spread of COVID,” Takorn said referring to the name of the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Thailand on Tuesday reported 127 new coronavirus cases, bringing the national tally up to 1,651 since the country’s first case was reported in January.
There have been 10 deaths.

CORONAVIRUS - The French Medicines Agency (ANSM) warned this Monday, March 30, that the drugs currently tested against Covid-19 could cause “serious adverse effects” and should “in no case” be used in self-medication, while three Deaths potentially linked to these treatments have been reported.
“Thirty” serious adverse effects, including “three deaths” in patients with coronavirus are being investigated to determine whether these events are related or not to the treatments which have been administered to them: Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine ) but also other drugs such as Kaletra (an antiretroviral combining lopinavir / ritonavir), Dominique Martin, director general of the ANSM, told AFP.
These adverse reactions have been reported mainly to the hospital and analyzes are still underway to verify whether the events reported are attributable to the treatment received by the patients, he said, hoping for initial conclusions “by then the end of the week".
The ANSM has placed under “enhanced surveillance” for the past two weeks all the treatments experienced in the management of Covid-19, “in particular when they are used outside clinical trials (chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, lopinavir / ritonavir, tocilizumab, colchicine) ”.
Dreaded heart attacks
"It is quite normal that treatments should be tried, given the circumstances, but that does not prevent us from having to exercise surveillance and pharmacovigilance on these products", according to Dominique Martin.
In this regard, hydroxychloroquine coupled with the antibiotic azithromycin, in the spotlight since Professor Didier Raoult published two controversial studies concluding in his view that they are “effective” against the coronavirus, deserves “special attention”, observes the director general of the ANSM.
Their association “potentiates the risk” of heart rhythm disorder “which can lead to a heart attack”, he says. And this is "even more true in patients who suffer from Covid", due to metabolic disorders specific to this disease.

According to the human rights organization, all media outlets in the country are forbidden to use the word in their publications. The Coronavirus has been dropped from official brochures distributed by the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan to schools, hospitals and various agencies.
