I think it's one of the largest, Cy.
A quick Google search states that the Chinese population has grown massively in recent yeas, but Paris is the largest, apparently. London and a couple of others (including Milan) not far behind.
Having been all over Europe, I'd be surprised if Milan was the biggest. I'm actually surprised to see France ahead of the UK, but maybe that's people counting HK as a UK territory and/or the way the any census is conducted.
Those Italians like to hug and kiss cheeks.
Anyone now arriving in Beijing from overseas must go to quarantine in a hotel at their own expense. Also they cannot order food from outside. Medical tests are done twice a day in the hotel at the detainees expense. How much I do not know.

In Italy, the average age of those who died as a result of the new coronavirus Sars-CoV-2 was 79.5 years. This was announced by the Italian Institute for Health (ISS) in Rome. According to this, 70 percent of the dead are men. Out of more than 2,000 deaths examined, only five were younger than 40 - and all of them had severe previous illnesses.
Don't you think that your previous statement should be applied similarly?
(Wondering how e.g. GWB would handle it, so "well" as he handled Katrina?)It’s a problem only for the USA, because their system is ill equipped to deal with it, and they have to get rid of the idiot Trump first.
Yeah the UK has far less need for concern with such a great statesman as BoJo at the helm.
And please, save yourself the bother and don't look for any consistency from Switch.
Revised - doesn't matter much concerning identifying any demographic as "safe". Any type of sickness/malady, as each person is an individual, all persons are susceptible - either to a lesser or greater degree. Exceptions to "The Rule" always exist.
The news media now has a history of presenting erroneous data as factual - a far greater disservice to us than realized. It is an unfortunate state we are in when we just cannot "trust" the information and safety guidelines provided.
Freedom of the Press has killed the Value of the Press...
One of the more delicious of ironies to be relished is the rising resentment among SE Asians and Chinese that 'filthy' Westerners are now travelling to them from contagion centres and pose as a risk to public safety.
The UK is an educational magnet for hundreds of thousands of rich Asian children whose parents pay to have them educated in boarding schools, private day schools, colleges and universities. Last week all these institutions closed down, indefinitely, spawning a mass exodus of students returning home in their thousands as they desperately secure flights.
It's a given that this group poses a significant 'carrier' risk and of course by their very nature their infection hit rate will be great as they pass the virus to families and friends in the home state.
And the Asian politicians have the sheer effrontery to blame "dirty foreigners" for the spread of the virus. Hey, Mr. Chow, we're just giving back to ya what you gave us but with interest added.
Enjoy.
The only thing left to do now is to apportion blame in the West as the virus wreaks havoc among our societies.
Essentially, most epidemiologists in their respective peer groups in most western societies saw in January what was happening in China and began to lobby governments to take urgent action to prepare for what they realised was likely to be an epidemic. Most governments did little, or in the case of Britain, nothing.
Two valuable months have been frittered away and thousands will die needlessly in the course of the next two-three months because of that negligence.
If the EU and the rest of the world have any sense, Britain must be quarantined, it is now the world's largest Petri dish for contagion yet Gatwick and Heathrow are still operating, permitting daily flights from Italy, the ME, Iran...you name it.
If you haven't sold your stocks and shares by now, you had better get your skates on otherwise you will be a busted flush.
I said several weeks ago in these pages that global international air travel would soon cease and of course that the £ would crash further than any other currency. If you haven't cashed in your FTSE stock by now you have only yourselves to blame.
not saying you're wrong, but it could be argued that it's already too late, and selling now would be the worst possible decision because when equities markets decide to turn (and they almost certainly will) the move up will be swift and massive....and those who cashed out now will be left with nothing but massive losses.
