Regional Police shut down major gambling operation in Banglamung.
A bizarre gambling case now from house number 44/2 in Soi Nonglabor 3 in Jomtien. What makes this story rather interesting is the fact that the raid was conducted by Region 2 Special Operations Police led by Police Colonel Nopadon. Another unusual detail of the story is a sign on the front of the house which states the property belongs to Police Colonel Padoonsuk, the former Chief of Banglamung Police, however we cannot confirm if he still owns the house or not.. A total of 40 people were arrested, however the Colonel and his wife were not one of the arrestees. Evidence of the gambling included the seizure of 3,000 Baht in cash, dice and game-board along with CCTV equipment which Police tell us was used to ensure the security of the gambling operation. The group was taken back to Banglamung Police Station and everyone was charged with gambling. We understand this particular gambling operation has changed location on a regular basis over the last 5 months making it difficult for Police to track their movements until this night when this major gambling business was shut down for good.

Controversy at Banglamung Police Station as the Regional Police Commander re-locates 5 senior Officers for 30 days.
On yesterdays show we reported on a major gambling arrest in Banglamung. This differed from any other gambling arrest we have previously featured on Pattaya City News because it was undertaken by Region 2 Special Operations Police. The reason for this has now become apparent. On Thursday Police Lieutenant General Jongrak, the Region 2 Police Commander relocated Banglamungs Police Chief, Police Colonel Waratshai, Police Lieutenant Colonel’s Pramot and Wunlop along with Police Major Pongsak. The gambling case caused concern amongst senior Regional Police commanders who felt that the local Police should have identified the gambling operation themselves and conducted the arrest. There are also allegations that some of the relocated officers received secret payments for them to ‘turn a blind eye” to the gambling. This is the second time the Banglamung Police Chief has been temporarily relocated in the space of 3 months; the other was over the raid of a local massage parlor that was employing foreigners without work permits. Allegations of secret payments were also mentioned in that case. Police Colonel Nopadon, the officer who conducted the gambling arrest is now temporarily in charge at Banglamung Police Station until Police Lieutenant General Jongrak decides on the fate of the relocated officers.

3,000 Baht doesn't sound like a major gambling operation. Some untold parts to this story methinks.

About 80 baht each, wonder where the rest of the money went?

More gambling operations uncovered in Banglamung.
After the revelations of yesterdays relocation of senior officers including the Police Chief from Banglamung Police Station, it appears that Police from outside the Banglamung area are lining up to uncover illegal gambling operations which Banglamung Police appear not to be aware of. This operation was led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Narongrit from Chonburi District Police Station who received information that gambling was taking place at Soi 555 in Naklua. He assembled a team and proceeded to the location where he arrested 12 men and 5 women who were caught playing the popular game “Hi-Low” for money. 1,700 Baht in cash, dice and other gambling paraphernalia were seized. The group were taken back to Banglamung Police Station and booked.
