Police raid Soi 6 bar in Pattaya, undercover prostitution and underage sex

Police in Pattaya have raided the Coming Bar in Soi 6. They allegedly uncovered evidence of prostitution and underage sex on the premises. Authorities noted that prostitution was available at the venue and had 18 women available to service customers, one girl was found to be 17 years old. The venue had rooms available above the bar for customers.


A report from INN claims the bar is a consortium comprising Taiwanese, Chinese and Thai national owners. Charges from the raid could include human trafficking, prostitution and the procurement of women for underage sex. The 18 staff were interviewed separately to gather evidence for pending legal action against the venue and owners.


On June 7 The Thaiger reported the regular PR ‘walk’ by officials along Walking Street claiming that there was no prostitution or drugs in Pattaya.

Retribution: Pattaya police chief transferred, foreign bar owners deported

Pattaya’s police chief has been transferred, the foreign bar owners are being deported and will be blacklisted. This has been the swift retribution for local senior police and the owners of ‘Coming Bar’ for allowing prostitution and under-age sex on their premises.

In addition, the Bang Lamung district police chief says the offending bar will be shut for five years for “damaging the image of tourism in Pattaya and Thailand”. Yesterday reports emerged of a raid of the Coming Bar in Soi 6 where evidence of sex-for-sale and a 17 year old sex worker was found. The owners of Coming Bar are a consortium of Taiwanese, Chinese and Thai nationals.
Chonburi’s police chief has removed the acting head of the Pattaya police Pol Col Pongphan Wongmaneethet and four of his deputies from active duty pending an investigation. They have been accused of allowing the prostitution to continue under their watch. Amnat Charoensri, the Bang Lamung district chief, says that he’s ordered the bar shut for five years.

Channel 7 reports that the foreign owners of Coming Bar in Soi 6 would all be deported and blacklisted from re-entering Thailand in the future.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand, bar girls are not covered by the law, imagine a law that says [in the west ] a girl can't go with a guy after a night out because he has money.

Soliciting for prostitution is a crime in Thailand, or most western countries, but try proving a girl in a bar is just not looking for a rich boyfriend/husband.

Just imagine, Police get serious about prostitution...once the word has spread, and sex tourists don't come anymore, business owners might want to go after the ones responsible for their business demise...unless of course they reorient their businesses to cater for all the families who come there...

^Police won't get 'serious' about prostitution there. Raids only happen when someone's not paying the proper tea money or there'e some power play among rival police/military cliques. Occasionally, the BiB will shut down the more egregious underage places to flex their muscles (and get a payoff after).

I drove down Soi 6 yesterday at around 4.00 pm and there would not have been more then 10 punters in bars on the Soi.

Heaps of very bored looking girls though.

Turned left on to Beach Rd and was into Walking Street in less then a minute. Normally takes me at least 20 minutes.

No fooker here at the moment.

Expect hotels and other tourist facilities will raise their prices to compensate for the loss in trade.

The entire demographic at the moment seems to comprise mainly Indians, Arabs/Iranians, Asean folk and Chinks, with a smattering of Russian families. Even the Chink numbers are down. The white European/Septic/Antipodean/Brit mongers are pretty much an endangered species.

Certainly, the Brit orientated establishments are now reliant on indigenous retirees and there are simply not enough to go round. A few years ago there was a colony of old codgers who would congregate daily by the old Dolphin monument on Beach Road promenade. Quite a bunch of them would buy their 7/11 drinks and snacks and sit there attracting the old biddies still hoping to ensnare a geriatric farang with a few pennies. I found it to be a touching sight in a way - they were obviously subsisting on a tight regime but at least it was a life infinitely better than the alternative of sitting in a fucking Wetherspoons in Crewe nursing a warm beer gazing out at a Hogarthian scene of dreary, grey, urban winter squalor. They are all gone now, bless 'em. The exchange rate and a more rigorous immigration regime will have seen them all off.

Incidentally, that tropical depression that hit Nam t'other day and hooked left over NE Thailand is upon us now - driving rain and wind gusting to 40kph with temperatures down to 28c.
