Bangkok Governor orders solution be found to complaints about temple bell ringing

BANGKOK, 4th October 2018 (NNT) – The Bangkok Governor has ordered all 50 district offices brainstorm a solution to the matter of bell ringing by temples following Bang Ko Laem District Office receiving a complaint concerning Wat Sai in the Rama 3 area, noting that the tradition of temple bell ringing must be preserved.

Bang Ko Laem District Office’s request for Wat Sai to lower the volume of its bell tolls between the hours of 3 and 4am have led to much debate and comment in the online community. Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Assawin Kwanmuang has however remarked that temples have long served as community centers and the ringing of temple bells is considered a time-honored tradition. He has instructed all 50 district offices to appropriately handle the matter but also urged them to build understanding among citizens of the necessity of bell ringing at temples.

New Bang Ko Laem District Director, Anan Kaiphan has met with Wat Sai Abbot Phra Preecha Bunnasilo to address the request in response to the online reaction, informing the temple it can go about its practices as per usual.

Both the builder and potential buyers should obviously know that settlements next to a temple involve some noise coming out from it.
    They should know better.

It's like building a house next to an airport, train tracks or a busy road and then complain about the noise...

I read that the complainant is now under heat from Thai netizens, as this person appears to be a foreigner, immigration wants to check her status ...
