PRD promoting Lat Phrao Canal development campaign

BANGKOK, 24th August 2018 (NNT) - The Director General of the PRD visited communities along Lat Phrao Canal on Thursday, to promote on-site activities which will take place on August 26th as part of a Lat Phrao Canal development campaign.

Director General of the PRD Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd and his officials met local residents at Lat Phrao 45 Community to urge them to join the campaign. In this regard, they told Sansern why they had hesitated to cooperate with the government.

The head of Lat Phrao 45 Community said however, that residents were now willing to work with the government. However, the cost of Ban Mankong has accrued, so they can't afford new houses. Sansern promised to solve the problem of fluctuating material prices and encouraged the residents to participate in the canal development effort.

Then the Director General embarked on a boat trip along Lat Phrao canal to inspect illegal infrastructure that is encroaching on public space.

Residents of a community behind the Thai-Japanese Association School voiced their concerns about construction issues which Sansern promised to solve as soon as possible. Then he invited the residents to join campaign activities on August 26th.

Dep Interior Min unveils Lat Phrao Canal redevelopment

BANGKOK, 26th August 2018 (NNT) - The Deputy Interior Minister has launched the second on-site activity to monitor the progress of the Lat Phrao Canal development campaign.

Deputy Minister of the Interior, Mr. Sutee Markboon and his officials embarked on a boat trip recently to inspect the site that shows a marked improvement in the housing along the canal.

Mr. Sutee said that the Lat Phrao Canal development effort is aligned with national reform aimed at eradicating inequality and raises the living standards of people in the area. With the plan now in place, he indicated that 11 houses have already been completed, 47 houses are being built while 48 of the old stock are being demolished. The project is due to be completed by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Chair of Lat Phrao Pracha Uthit Community Mrs. Puangphka Chanhiran, revealed that in the aftermath of urbanization, residents previously encroached on the public canal, which led to problems of slums, water pollution, and inundations. However, they are now willing to cooperate with the government's canal development campaign after they saw the tangible results of their efforts.

Mrs. Puangphka thanked the government for providing financial support and stressed that they are now living under much better conditions, citing improvements in house structures and utility services. She also urged those who had hesitated to join the Baan Mankong project, to do so now.

Then the Deputy Minister of the Interior delivered house registration documents to residents along Lat Phrao Canal to guarantee their occupancy. Mr. Sutee congratulated them and confirmed the government's commitment to the area's development.
