DIT unveils service station search app to aid motorists

BANGKOK, 21st August 2018 (NNT) – A mobile application has been launched by the Department of Internal Trade (DIT), Ministry of Commerce, to help drivers locate quality petrol stations nearest them.

A press conference has been held to introduce the public to the “Namman Tem Lit” application, which has been developed by the DIT’s Central Bureau of Weights and Measures. With the GPS, the app provides users with the locations of and directions to participating gas stations in their surrounding area.

Searches can be made by entering the name of a service station, the type of fuel or even the name of a convenience store inside a station. The new app is now available for download on both the iOS and Android platforms at no cost.

The “Namman Tem Lit” application goes hand in hand with an ongoing campaign of the same name, in which gas stations across the country are designated “Namman Tem Lit” stations after having undergone inspections to ensure the quality of their equipment, products and services. Currently, there are over 3,700 participating stations out of the 28,000 stations nationwide.

When I'm looking for a gas station, I look at my GPS app or turn on the data and open Google maps...

Safety regulations and consumers protection bodies are supposed to ensure that gas stations are safe and the gas isn't adulterated... aren't they?

So I wonder why the need to set up an app that seems redundant on public funds...oh wait...
