BANGKOK, 1st March 2018 (NNT) - The Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and Stop Drink Network (SDN) today launched a campaign for increased milk consumption; it was held at Victory Monument in Bangkok.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thanit Anekwit presided over the campaign’s opening ceremony at Victory Point plaza. Dr. Thanit is also the chairman of the sub-committee tasked with promoting milk consumption.
The objectives are to raise public awareness of the health benefits of milk and increase the milk intake of each Thai to 25 liters per year. It is recommended that youngeters drink two to three glasses of plain milk daily. Adults and the elderly should drink up to two glasses of plain milk a day.
Educational institutions are being urged to join the campaign by having more stalls or shops that sell milk products at special prices. These can be linked to the ban on alcoholic beverage sales on campus, and help solve drinking problems among students.
