YALA, 12 February 2018 (NNT) – Yala Provincial Employment Office is warning job-seekers over call-center fraud in Taiwan.

Yala Provincial Employment Official, Thitima Narapong, said Thailand's Department of Employment was notified of eight Thai nationals having been arrested for alleged involvement with a fraudulent call-center gang in Taiwan to where they had been lured for work by a Taiwanese man.

The case is being processed by the Thai police who have asked the Taiwanese authorities to repatriate the five arrested people to Thailand. Three other Thai women, who were released earlier by the authorities, will travel back to Thailand by themselves.

The Yala employment official said such alleged involvement with the fraudulent call-center gang in Taiwan was illegal and would eventually result in prosecution and deportation, thus all job-seekers should by no means accept any advertised offer for jobs overseas.

A total of 35,199 Thai nationals received official permission to work legally in Taiwan last year, making the country the most popular destination for Thai job-seekers. More information regarding legal job offers overseas is available via the Ministry of Labor's Hotline 1506 ext 2.
