BANGKOK, 25th December 2017 (NNT) – The government of Thailand together with Thai temples worldwide will hold a New Year chanting ceremony on the night of December 31st, 2017.

The government has cooperated with various sectors to organize activities to deliver happiness to the people. One of the activities is the New Year chanting ceremony. Over 22 million participants chanted Buddhist prayers during the previous New Year's Eve, and more than half of them were youths.

The Culture Minister, Weera Rojpotchanarat, said the New Year chanting ceremony will take place across Thailand and foreign countries, such as Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka and Laos.

Ten Buddha statues from the National Museum will be placed at Phutthaisawan Buddha Image Hall from December 29th, 2017, to January 31st, 2018, for the general public to pay their homage. The Ministry of Culture will also organize a tour to 10 temples in Bangkok on December 31st, 2017, and January 1st, 2018.
