A thief has stolen more than 70 marigold plant pots from a plant shop in Khlung district of Chanthaburi province early Tuesday morning (Sept 5).
Sanom Issaro, owner of the plant shop, told police she found out about the theft Tuesday morning when about 70 pots of marigold which he placed in front of his shop went missing.
Mrs Sanom told police that she thought the thief stole his marigold plants to be sold in the market because the plants are highly demanded as they are used as decorative plants for Royal cremation ceremony in October.
Surveillance camera installed at the shop also record two men walking pass the shop at around 4.30am. Mrs Sanom suspected that they were the thieves who scouted the place before the theft.
The plant shop owner said the marigold plant pot was priced at 35 baht each at her shop, but it could fetch higher price when resold in Bangkok.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry urged members of the public, government and private sectors to grow marigold plants whose yellow colour is the colour of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
