Two slashed to death in Chonburi by jealous husband

A jealous Thai husband aged 41 has killed two men who he said were messing with his seventeen year old wife.

Narin Khunthong told Phanat Nikhom, Chonburi, police that he had warned the two men three times to stay away from his wife who he married two years ago.

But he said they ignored his warning. So he grabbed a kitchen knife after his wife went missing and went out with murder in mind on Thursday evening.

He met a man called Suphachai Surawut who told him that his wife was with Narit Nakrop nearby.

He slashed the neck of Suphachai then went in search of Narit.

He found Narit flirting with his wife in front of the temple of Wat Thung Hiang.

He slashed the neck of Narit leaving him for dead outside the temple then fled.

He was apprehended at the house of his grandfather after a four hour manhunt.

Narin was later taken on a reenactment to the temple and 200 meters from there where the other man was found dead.

Some 200 people turned up to watch as he reenacted the crime and admitted what he had done.

He faces charges of premeditated murder.

Stupid idiot should have dealt to his wife instead, by kicking her out,...she was the cause of the conflict, not the blokes.

Sorry to rain on another of your torch-lit parades through Nuremburg but the minimum age for marriage in Thailand is 20, or 17 with the parents' consent. (For reference, wikipedia tells me that in New Zealand it is 18, or 16 with parents' consent - but that's antipodean culture for you).

Never seen a 41 year old man with 17 year old wife in NZ.... then again, I never saw any in toyland either for that matter...


Don't worry mate, I don't hold the belief that NZ is superior to Thailand in any way, shape, or form, quite the contrary. I'm not oblivious to NZ's faults (child abuse, violence towards women, meth abuse, etc)..

If the news had been about a couple here, I'd post exactly the same repulsion.

point being, it's backward irregardless of where/if it happens here, or there and the laws in both countries should be amended to reflect our modern mindset - and protect children from exploitation from adults.
