Thong Pha Phum national park has ordered the temporary closure of the park for safety reasons.
The closure has nothing to do with a video clip capturing a tourist falling off the Khao Chang Phuak cliff in the park and the clip went viral on the Internet.
The park chief said the national park will be closing off from February 1 onwards.
He said the closure was necessary as the dry season is fast approaching and the dry hot weather could result in wild fires breaking out in the area and could pose safety concern for visitors during this period.
It has nothing in connection with the accident posted in the Internet.
Meanwhile a clip that was posted online showing a girl, identified as Suphatra Polbun, a 26 year tourist who is a native of Sangklaburi district, falling off the cliff has shocked many viewers.
She slipped and fell off the Khao Chang Phuak cliff face located in the Thong Pha Phum National Park in Kanchanaburi province.
The video footage was captured by a student from Thonburi Phra Chom Klao Technical College and posted on her Chichaya Facebook.
She was among several groups of tourists adventuring the walk on the small path on the cliff.
On the way back as she was taking video footage of the descent, Suphatra slipped and fell and flipped over into the abyss amid the shock and screams of other tourist in the same group.
However the girl was rescued later by park officials from the bottom of the cliff and immediately sent to hospital.
She suffered severe fracture of the skull.
However she is now in stable condition and is recuperating in the hospital’s ICU ward.
