Non-stop rains since Thursday in Narathiwat and Pattani provinces on Friday have caused flooding in the municipalities and riverside areas of the two southern border provinces.
In Narathiwat, officials are keeping a close watch on the rising level of the river although roads remain passable and the Narathiwat Ratchanakarin hospital is still safe from flooding.
Several privately-owned Islamic schools in Yee-ngor district of Narathiwat were closed indefinitely whereas in Waeng, Sukhirin and Suhai Padi districts, several roads have become impassable or closed to traffic.
In Pattani, the Pattani river is steadily rising and has inundated outlying areas. People living along both sides of the river have moved their valuables and belongings to higher ground as earlier warned by officials.
