Cold season has arrived and remains longer than the past few years

Thailand is entering the cold season as of October 30 and the cold weather will last longer than it was in the past few years.

Meteorological Department director-general Wanchai Sak-udomchai told Thai PBS on Monday that the cold season has arrived faster this year and is expected to last longer with temperature starting to drop in November until next February.

People in the North and the Northeast can now experience cool weather, but Bangkok and the central region will still have rains although rainfalls will steadily drop and weather will turn cold in December.

Temperature in Bangkok is forecast to drop to 15-16 degree Celsius in December whereas mountains in the North and the Northeast will experience very cold weather.

Mr Wanchai attributed the cold front for the North Pole for prolonging the cold season this year which will be different from the previous few years when the cold season was short due to the effect of El Nino.

He, however, denied rumours that this year’s cold season would be the coldest in ten years.

In 2006 it was quite chilly. i remember having a tip over wash one morning outside in Sisakiet. My nether regions resembled a couple of prunes and a baby carrot

It's exceedingly un-cool season like in Bangkok.

At least it's stopped raining meters of water.

I forget if we had a coldsnap last year. I remember one 4 or so years ago where we needed wooly scarves in the morning for about 2 weeks.

About 4 years ago it was in November, and then the next year was in December.

Hot Milo with a shot of whisky in it in the nighttime.

    Good times.

No need for a fan during the night with cloudless skies up in Sakon Nakhon area. It makes for superb night skies but the days are still hot.

I reckon there's still a month of storm showers left...

COLD? Hardly. Cold for Thailand is perfect for me and I welcome any elongation of the 'cold ' season.

    The mother has nice breasts.

Not sure I'd want to venture downstairs though. Not until Chico's cleared the area for snakes anyway.

What is is like everywhere else in Thailand this year?

For NE Thailand, it has to be the warmest winter nights I can remember...hardly dropped below 18C in the last 3 weeks. The days are cooler but, with the unexpected cloud cover, the nights are much warmer than normal. First time I have ever known it rain on New Year's eve as well.

Coldest I can recall in the last 18 years is +8C in the mornings in December/January...it didn't get anywhere near dropping to single figures this year.

Still raining in Chiang Mai. One day of sunshine since New Year. Never seen this before. Temperature is pleasant, perhaps warmer than last year.

A few cold nights in CM lately, with cloud cover and showers, but nothing extraordinary.
