MANILA, Philippines — Elements from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory on Thursday took DNA samples from the American suspect in the killing of a Filipino transgender in Olongapo City last month.

Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs chief, said the team of police officers conducted swabbing on US Marines Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton inside the Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

The swabbing started at 1:58 p.m. and was done by 3:06 p.m.

Prior to it, Cabunoc said two of Pemberton’s defense lawyers visited him.

Olongapo City Prosecutor Emily Fe Delos Santos witnessed the forensic procedure while Brigadier General Arthur Ang, Camp Aguinaldo Camp Commander, facilitated the entry of the party.

No shore leave at Subic Bay while murder case against Marine is pending

Sailors on ships docked at Subic Bay won’t get shore leave while authorities determine the fate of a Marine accused of a slaying there.

“In consideration of recent events in Olongapo City, the United States has temporarily restricted shore leave for… U.S. forces [visiting] the Subic Bay area,” according to an official at the U.S. Embassy in Manila.

Marine Pfc. Joseph Scott Pemberton, who has been in custody in the Philippines for almost a month, is suspected of involvement in the death of Jeffrey Laude, 26, a transgender person also known as Jennifer whose body was found Oct. 11 in a motel bathroom.

The death, which prompted protests from family members and anti-American activists, comes at a crucial time for U.S.-Filipino relations as the countries prepare to implement an agreement that will see thousands of U.S. troops rotate through bases in the Philippines over the next decade.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chairman Robert Garcia told the AFP news agency earlier this month that nine U.S. Navy ships had canceled visits to the port. Ships were still scheduled to visit for emergency repairs, but crews wouldn’t be allowed ashore, he said.

Cmdr. William Marks, spokesman for the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet, said Thursday that no “announced visits” to the Philippines had been canceled.

“USNS Mary Sears has been at Subic Bay and just left, and the USNS Henson (an oceanic survey ship) just arrived yesterday,” he said.

Port visits are often not confirmed until a week or even a few days before a ship arrives, Marks said.

“…to say that all port visits have been canceled for the next two months is not accurate,” he said. “We just do not have any confirmed port visits to the Philippines right now. Of course port visits of U.S. Navy ships to the Philippines is a key part of the U.S.-Philippine alliance so we’re always looking for opportunities to get our ships there.”

The embassy official, who asked not to be identified, said many factors that go into arranging port calls and that schedules of a particular ship can change for a variety of reasons.

“The U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Pacific Command are working together to review each port call to ensure U.S. service members still have an opportunity to visit the Philippines and experience the food, culture and strong historic ties between our two countries,” the official said.

Ships will continue to visit for repairs, and have been doing so. But, NO shore leave will be authorized. Period.

There is at least one transgendered lady in each photo, can you spot which ones?

These ladies have as many problems as biological ladies in securing an income, no surprise they work in bars. As they blend in so well there is no telling exactly what percentage are transgendered in these bars, same as Thailand.

Their shorts are always a wee bit longer in the crotch than the girls.

Then these are badly run bars because they are and they do, as the above photos show.

You can walk into almost any of these types of bar and find one if you know what to look for. The prettiest one in the bar may be transgendered, picky with punters and will be on the rag at all times. How many times have you seen that and just passed it off as her being a bit up herself due to her looks?

Actually, I take that back because most of the transgendered in the photos are in fact wearing slightly longer shorts.

First update in quite some time. Pemberton's DNA was NOT a match for either of the used condoms found in the trash can at the short time hotel murder scene.

Not really sure how this will play out.

Preliminary investigation intends to be concluded by 15 December, when charges will be filed.

Actually, upon reflection, I think this is a good thing for Pemberton. If no sex took place, he can claim he just totally lost it when Jeff Laude whipped out his dick, and killed him in a fit of rage. Not great, but should get him manslaughter rather than murder. Manslaughter/diminished responsibility would have been a hard road if they could have proven sex first.

Also not a match for Jeff, so it appears Pemberton was neither pitching nor catching.

Scum lawyer Roque is back. Now he's filing nuisance suits. The first charged that the Pemberton DNA collection was invalid because his star tranny witness wasn't present when it was collected to positively identify Pemberton. Court kicked suit out.

Today he filed to have the chief defense lawyer dismissed from the case because "she was prejudiced". Case kicked out.

Social media is just blasting the Laude family as money-grubbing retards and is 100% critical of scum Roque's idiocy. Most are calling for him to be disbarred when the court considers the Army's suit to have that happen. Roque is doing his stupid clients NO favors.

^I doubt it. The lack of DNA match strengthens the case that Jeff whipped out his gear, and Pemberton went nuts. It would have been more complicated had the DNA confirmed they had engaged in some form of sexual activity. In that case, the "I just lost it" defense would have been in the trash, and a murder charge would have been more likely.

The "I just lost it" defense should get him manslaughter vice murder.

Mind you, manslaughter could still get him 20 years.

^ I just don't know. But, I expect lots of twists and turns before the end of this case. Also, it's clearly very political, and if the prosecution lawyer is really disliked in the media generally then that makes it much easier for the judge to bring down a judgement that benefits the American.

Prosecution may attempt to show Pemberton knew the victim was a tranvestite before they went to the room. Then we would be looking at premeditated murder.

EDCA (Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement), which is the follow-on to the VFA (Visiting Forces Agreement) is in front of the courts right now, and is quite controversial. Social media shows that a very large, but unfortunately very quiet, majority of Filipinos want EDCA to pass. But there is a very vocal, and quite influential, minority that want it to fail, as well as VFA, and to kick out all foreign troops (that means a small group of Americans in a Filipino base in Mindanao helping the Filipinos to fight homegrown terrorists) and to basically shut down all ship visits and military cooperation/assistance. A very short-sighted view, but these are the same people who managed in 1991 to shut down Clark and Subic - costing the country thousands of jobs and millions in military aid. It will be a brutal fight.

Roque has been an ardent anti-VFA advocate for years, thus this killing of a Filipino by an American Marine (allegedly) came at a perfect time for him to use it in his anti-EDCA/VFA crusade.

Jeff's staggeringly stupid and venal family are nothing more than Roque pawns, as was Herr Gay Kraut, as he seeks to advance his cause.
