No double standards, NCPO tells police, courts and lawyers

No double standards, NCPO tells police, courts and lawyers

The National Council for Peace and Order Friday released order number 63/2014 on judicial policy to ensure the rule of law.

The order stipulates that the judicial process, which includes not just the courts of law but also the police, Office of the Attorney General, the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Department of Special Investigation must carry out its duty in a just manner and in a way that can be scrutinised by the public. They must also avoid causing any misunderstanding in the public about its work in a way that could lead to division within society and there should be no double standards in application of the law.

The order also says people must be given equal access to justice.

    Martial law notwithstanding

I wonder if this means that if and when ( more if than when ) Thailand is returned to civilian rule they will not grant themselves immunity from prosecution as per normal.

That'll be the day. Blimps might fly.

They are supported by the ultimate authority so I think they'll probably slide out of the tricky situation with ease.

No D/S eh, how refreshing if just one hi-so receives his/her dues. I think they may just have the former PM and her gang in mind and of course the yellow team of 2008 also need to be brought to book, although that case has been deferred until the end of 2014 atm, and beyond probably.
