Swedish 'suicide' at South Pattaya Hotel

A 41-year-old Swedish Tourist reportedly committed suicide by jumping from his 5th floor room balcony at a Hotel in South Pattaya late on Wednesday Night.

Police and medics were called to the Scenery City Hotel in Soi 11 of Pattaya Second Road and were directed to the side of the building where the body of Mr. Markus Henrik Mikkonen had come to rest, in a narrow gap between the Hotel and adjacent building.

It took rescue workers almost 1 hour to recover the body while Police inspected the 5th floor room occupied by Mr. Mikkonen. There were no signs of a struggle but on the balcony, a small table was upside-down and many cigarette butts were seen on the floor of the balcony area.

Suicide? Narrow gap between buildings, 5th floor? Possibly just stupid.

RIP hope he found his peace.

Reminds me of an old friend.

Bought a six pack and 20 cigs, went to the top of a block of flats.

Smoked and drank the lot, then jumped, frightening to even think about.

I think the French author Michel Houellebecq in his book, Atomised, neatly defined Pattaya as a place where there are no more illusions. The hero completes his account of the events that brought him there and then commits suicide.

Pattaya for the desperate and the vulnerable is the last pit stop on their journey through life, running on empty.

I'd safely say that most of these 'suicides' stem from these idiots disbelief that such nice cute smiling girls could fuck them about and rip them off

He'll have met her at some gogo bar, barfined her for say, a week, but each evening she says she'll meet him at 10pm but doesn't turn up til 1am, citing ''fend hab poblem'' where really she was working at the bar.

Man is already unstable mentally as he leans over his balcony chainsmoking looking down waiting for her to arrive. She doesn't and it's slowly destroying him, flashes of her being under some hairy geezer being fucked stupid pass through his mind, ''no she only go with me'' will be echoing round his brain as he winds himself up.....then she calls him much to his relief, but she says ''go stay sister, hab poblem''

then he can't take it no longer, and he's nearly done all his money, so taking the plunge is a logical next step.

I do sometimes wonder, have any of these suicide jumpers ever left a few million in the bank?
    Hmm didn't think so.

He prolly ran out of money or gave it all to a tart who then dissapeared, unable to face ruination and going home to earn more money he made a pavement pizza. Oh well.

Actually, the location within Thailand is quite irrelevant, the entire place is the same and anyone, anywhere, facing adversity, and lacking the character to withstand it, is at risk.

Lacking the character? You really don't get much in this world outside of your own narrow experience do you. Despite the fact that you like to think of yourself as worldly and educated.

Been to Pattaya and survived to tell the tail, so no more thoughts of suicide for me. (Just wasn't that impressed.)

^ Yup, can't say I didn't try. Guess you are stuck with me now (or I'm stuck with you - depending on perspective).

it takes more than a few trillion gay jokes and insults to kill me...

Obviously, you are attempting to make a point but your poor expression obscures meaning somewhat.

But, other than all that waffle the correct answer is Pattaya.

The specifically named place he was talking about that swiftly became irrelevant to his more generalised musings on an entire country?

    That place?

Ah yes, how typical Pattaya is. Not at all a unique cess pit, oh no.
