An animal rights and a family support group are condemning the sexual practice of bestiality surfacing in Thailand. There are Thai-produced videos of humans having sex with animals on the Internet, and also a new Thai brothel specializing in bestiality, they claim.
BANGKOK – November 23, 2012 [PDN]; an animal rights and family support group have taken an active stand against the sexual practice of bestiality seeping into Thailand.
Mrs. Rabiabrat Pongpanich, president of the Happy Family Association, said there was a brothel which has opened for people who want to have sex with animals. It caters mostly to men and there are websites for men to schedule appointments.
Although sex was personal issue, Mrs. Raiabrat said if it involved bullying animals, it could be counted as mentally abnormal, and should not be considered fully human.
She said this warped behavior might have three causes. First, the person must be mentally abnormal, because normal people did not do things like this. Secondly, abnormal people who want to try it want to take advantage of animals that cannot protect themselves. Thirdly, people who believe that a dogs’ vagina will be more “tight” and want to prove it, which is so wrong.
Mrs. Rabiabrat continued that she had followed the news of a man who sexed a cow. When she went to check, she found that he was mentally sick, and he had gone to have treatments. Mrs. Rabriabrat added that adult videos showing animals having sex with humans was not appropriate.
“Thailand is a Buddhist country. I do not want to have something like this happen. I would like to call upon the responsibilities and related agencies into action without delay,” she said. “It will become a model for behavior that deviates from a human into a beast.”
Mrs. Rabiabrat said that the websites that allow people to make appointments to have sex with animals should be investigated by the ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Mr. Rogers Lohanan, the president of the Animal Protection Association, said that bestiality has been occurring for a long time in foreign countries, but in Thailand it only publicly surfaced several years ago.
The Thai people who produce the bestial videos are copying other countries and doing it mainly for the money, he said. Adult videos of bestiality were broadcasted through YouTube, in some parts, for attracting people who are interested in it to pay by credit card, he added. The video producers are hoping to tap into the foreign market outside Thailand.
In the past years, only pornographers from foreign countries could make much money from bestiality. This has made some Thai people want to do it, because they wanted U.S. dollars, Mr. Rogers said. Now, there are also some private blogs for people who like this kind of stuff, to register and make appointments for sex with animals.
Mr. Rogers said he had been monitoring related news involving bestiality from a western province in Thailand, and the customers from nearby provinces. There were men and women, especially gay men, among those who wanted to try it, he said.
If a good-looking woman came, she did not have to pay, because they wanted to do adult video business, he said. Also, the dogs shown in the bestiality videos were Thai breeds, which create a uniqueness. Moreover, there were some arrangements to swinging in the customers’ groups too.
“This has been presented to the ICT, but they saw it as a personal eccentricity of a small group whose sexuality is perverted,” Mr. Rogers said.
In the past, the selected committee of the Parliament was asked to consider the bill of animal prevention and animal safety management, he said.
“But they did not believe that there were humans having sex with animals,” Mr. Rogers said. “We understood that they did not have information, so they did not believe it. But we have worked on this for more than 15 years, so we have enough information.”
Mr. Rogers said his group would submit a letter to the ministry of ICT again, and would continue to push for legislation on sexual intercourse with animals, to be counted as cruelty to animals.
