Swedish man found dead at guesthouse in Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI: -- Oman Reiner, a 30 year old Swede, was found dead at the Jocker Brother Guesthouse, a four room budget guesthouse, in downtown Chiang Mai Thursday 27. September. The cause of death is not yet known.

Omar Reiner was found with his head against a pillow and with some blood on his right leg. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and khaki pants.

Yutthachai Jiemjitrat, 30, the owner of the guesthouse, told police that Reiner had stayed at the guesthouse alone for more than 7 months and that Oman Reiner had been to Suan Prung Hospital for psychiatric treatment in the past.

He further more told that Oman Reiner didn’t worked but had 30,000 baht transferred to his account every month, and that a thin Thai woman, over 30 years old, visited Reiner at the room often.

Look at the photo in the link. The place looks ransacked (or he was a pack rat living in squalor) and who sleeps curled up with their rear in the air like that?

Not necessarily ransacked....he had been a psychiatric patient. They're not always the neatest people.

Happened just a minute's walk from my place, and the "thin Thai lady" could be a fairly well known "tour guide" who speaks fairly good English and seems to pick up stray dependent type Farangs. Hangs around Funky Dog cafe, just up Soi Sompet, a Farang alternative sort of cafe.

Strange stuff goes on around that block between the Moat and Three Kings monument, what with the rock bars and all just off Ratchawithi.

The Thai news report from a couple of days back suggests he was an alcoholic and was receiving "psychiatric" treatment for this. He had been seen to shake and didn't eat enough. No signs of struggle or violence in his room.

The police initial inquiries....suggests he died from a chronic illness exacerbated by the heat and shock (?)

It also suggests as he had been dead for more than a day (as no one had seen him for a few days), that the wound was from an animal chewing on him.

Anyway, his body has been sent for forensic tests.

this looks as if blood was running...

you can see on the mattress, on pic no 4

also on pic no 4, the bleeding from the mouth/nose must have been considerable, as the (soaking) blanket is quite stained...

it also seems to have two different blood stains, what means, he must have moved while bleeding...
no... maybe he was bleeding from nose and mouth...

on the first posted picture (op) you can also see, that the laptop is still there (on the right)... unfolded...

thief wouldnt leave back mobile and laptop....

as the earplugs are on the bed, it looks as if something struck quickly...

physically he looks perfectly fine... no low weight or so...

even I F he was alcoholic, its no reason to die... (by 30)

the bed was probably the place, he spent "time", as the laptop was near, the earplugs etc etc...
there is no single bottle nor glass to see, only the medication, neatly lined up on the shelf behind him...

they guy looks well kept, his clothes on the bed are folded, and the place looks fine too, except for the things spilled over the bed...
