^ and show the tax receipts, as IMO a simple non imm O will not be enough, even if 10 years done correctly!

The APEC card is a good choice for hassle free stay in Thailand.

To qualify for a permanent residence you must have three back-to-back one year extensions in your passport (or three work permits).
Unless you intend to go for permanent residence I would stick to your APEC card.
Permanent resident is what I got in Hong Kong after 7 years working visa, with the APEC card as an additional bonus. The big advantage is the "unconditional stay", I can stay in Hong Kong the rest of my life without having to show / prove anything anymore.

If I could get the same in Thailand, that would be one big worry less. Can't imagine being kicked out of Thailand at 80 y.o. because my bank balance is below the legal requirement ....
The things we regret most is the things we didn't do

The visa, and the extension are two totally different things, not to be confused:

    - You can get a 1 year non-o multiple entry visa based on marriage in your home country. All you need to show is your marriage certificate (photo, passport, application form too obviously). You have to leave every 3 months but can do that up to the point where the visa expires. If you enter Thailand just before expiry, you get another 3 months so this is effectively a 15 month visa.

    - Once in Thailand you can apply for a marriage based extension where you have to show 400k in the bank or monthly income, plus whatever other things the local officers can come up with - it seems to be random. I have heard they come by to check the house. It can take a while for the extension to be processed - in my case it took 5 months, and I had to go back to immigration every month and stand in line to "check" whether it's already there. It's then valid for 1 year from the time you applied. Extending that again next year is easier, I think you only need to show the money.
But you have to apply for a re-entry permit every time you leave or better still get a multi-re-entry permit. Otherwise you've lost your extension and you need to start all over again.

I am not bothering with the extension at the moment because I leave this place 2x a year anyway, crossing 2 more times is no biggie. I stay here on the Non-O only. The extension is for when you want to stay in Thailand, and not go anywhere for a long while.
