American visa travel outside of Thailand

I am an American in Thailand on a tourist visa. The visa is stamped s for number of entry but has not amount of time on it. I assume it is for 60 days from what the embassy web page stated and I want to go to Cambodia for a few days. I'm concerned that I have a single entry visa and if I leave the country I can't get back in. I am scheduled to leave Thailand at the end of July though my return date could be pushed back because I bought an open ended ticket. Would it be best for me to wait until the end of July to go to Cambodia and renew my visa at that time in case I want to stay longer? If I wanted to go outside of Thailand now could I get back in and at what cost.

    Thanks for your time.

You have a single entry tourist visa therefore you must re-enter Thailand either with a new tourist visa which will give you a stay of 60 days or on TVE which will give a stay of 30 days at airport and 15 days at land border

    Just a question?
I will enter Thailand on the 18th June 09.
I work in Libya and there is no Thai Embassy or Consulate here. I will enter on a 30 day no visa required. What is the best option for me to extend my stay and where is the best place to go to get the tourist visa?
Later this year I will go back tom UK and get a visa from Hull with the view to extending this to a retirement visa.
    Any constructive advice please?

I have heard it is possible to get a double visa from Vientiene. Double entry tourist visa where you can do a stepover into Cambodia ie 60 days then Cambodia another 60 days and then a thirty day extension from Thai immigration am I correct concerning this?

There are a number of border crossing not too far away where you can get 15 days.

If you need more time you will have to go to a consulate or embassy and get a 60 day tourist visa. I would say the nearest one is in Savannakhet, Laos (over the bridge from Mukdahan).

Thanks Marmite. I would rather not go the 15 day route. So I will make plans to drive to Mukdahan and the go to Savanakhet, the 60 days seems the better option.
    Thanks for your time.
