As of Feb 12th the office has been closed and some staff have been moved to Klong Yai, 70Km south at the Hat Lek/Cambodian border.
An alternate was Chanthaburi. I will try there when my next 90 day report is due.

^^
At least they left note and directions/map/GPS co-ordinates of their new office.
Same staff, same in and out in 10 mind and of course same felang, with Thai wife, arguing that this year different papers are required
^
I did use them once before for a re-entry stamp but they did ask why, I had come to them, but they gave me one. As they closed the office, as you suggest phone first.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
For those interested here is an image of the new office location, along with the GPS location (bottom left)
Great news, for some.
Laem Gnop Immigration Office, near Ko Chang ferry, has reopened. Visa applications and renewals along with 90 reporting and other necessities of life in Thailand for the short and long-term felang have come closer to home.
I've tried there old telephone number but it was not working so I visited to confirm the news given to me by the driving licence renewal office. It's the old location and doesn't appear to be any different other than two new female officers.
I'll try and remember to get the new number next time I go.
Maybe it was just an administrative move to locate "errant" officers elsewhere.
