I didn't have to 'teach' in Thailand. I trained. I paid my dues in places that were a lot less friendly than the LoS.

When the training program folded (people didn't want to come to Hat Yai, they were afraid of being bombed) I was offered a classroom...and went to one in Abu Dhabi.

I can't, nor want to, work in Thailand for the wages on offer.

i did 6 years but stopped 5 years ago

would consider going back to it in 20 years or so if was to stop me going senile and allowed me to meet pert young things

TEFL was ok if you had a constant change and effectively worked for yourself but i agree the fun soon goes out of it and you do meet a lot of wankers and social misfits
    we won it at wemberlee

    Thats a perfect comment!!!!!

Tefl is ok if you put forth some effort to change things from semester to semester, if you get yourself into a position that your schools management accepts your hard drinking, whore fucking and lack of anything close to a professional attitude.

But my suggestion is to treat it like a job. Simple. Everyone wants to do a good job and strive to do a great job.

Now, the tefl masses will rise and suggest "Why should I do a good job for a school that fucks me over!"

My answer is "Do it for yourself. Do it so you can look in the mirror and realize that you gave your best. Fuck anyone else, if you let someone else define your pride in the job you've done, then you really are a mere TEFL'er, not a teacher, professional or even a fucking muppet"

Sorry, had a less than happy day today with a fucking idiot and the management that employed the idiot.

Did 30 minutes once, they had a conversation / interview request and i accepted the invitation...

was fun, took my daugther with me, so half the class was busy with her, could not make it for a living, salary was a basket full of fruits...

It was a technical college with girls age 16 - 18 years- not really high level they had !

They improve slowly, but at least improve around korat, this seen over 8 years around here...
