^ Didn't speak ill of the guy at all. I merely relayed some info that the man himself had provided.

    Period.

i agree with you entirely that the public outpouring of grief for someone you dont know personally is OTT, and i cant understand it at all. but people like Zehner, Jarvis, AO were personal friends of his, and Z in particular did a lot with the fueneral and deserve praise even if they are not looking for it

i dont believe the ajarn massive should be lumped into 1, although most of them are wankers, there are a few good peeps over there

loss is painful and arbitrary. my heart goes out to the family and genuine friends of the deceased. i did not know him but he seems to have been a real person who lived his life fully and without harming others. i respect that.

some of the shit next door is simply shit, however. it does not diminish the life of anyones friend to sort through the pig pile and pick the real from the silly poo. it shows no disrespect to speak honestly about the deceased. it violates no meaningful social rules to maintain some individuality and even discretion in ones method of grieveing.

again, i never met the deceased. but he seemed to be a real person who led a full life. one wonders how he would have reacted the stuff that was/is contrived to celebrate his life.

Correct. My Missus always wears one on hers!

Incidentally, I am surprised to see so many posts of kind sympathy here. When I asked you all to "Spare a thought for Klaus" a teacher who died some months ago, all I got were snide retorts......

    Funny lot you are.

There's a charity based in Duisberg, Westphalia, called "Ruhr Aid"

His bereaved ought to get in touch with them.

Quite so. I gather the child in the photo was/is his grand-daughter from Scotland.

Anyone can see it is not a Thai child, anyway. And even if it was, it could well have been a friends.

Shouldn't read anything else into it, unlike the inference that was made that he'd shacked up with some Thai bird and was popping them out with abandon.
