Is this place commutable from Bangkok and if so how?
Does anyone know of anywhere in Pathum Thani that's a decent place to stay but also close to the transport links for Bangkok & civilization.
Cheers.

It's quite a long way but the traffic on the expressway is usually not too bad. If you're considering working there then I'd suggest living in Rangsit.
I think I am going to suck it up and live by the Uni for the first few months, can anyone recommend an apartment block? Looks like there are lots of options.
Is it this one?
Thammasat University - Rangsit Campus
Isn't that where AO teaches .. oh excuse me, where he's a lecturer?
Rangsit is a good 45 minutes and 200 baht out of Bangkok (in good traffic, double that time in bad).
This is the one...
The plan is to live near the campus for a few months then move to Rangsit I guess.
I used to live at Neo Noble Village which had some really nice apartments. If you're coming from Rangsit campus, head towards Wat Nawong and turn left heading towards Songprapa road. Neo Noble is about half way along that road.Originally Posted by angsta
For a condo or apartment and not a house The Airport Residence in Laksi is fine. Has a rooftop pool and a nice view of the airport. Not bad at all, and a minute motorbike ride to Wipawidee Rangsit Highway north.
So this is where you're a teacher? Oh, lecturer, sorry.
Language Institute, Thammasat University
No its not. Keep on trying. If you teach at a university in Thailand your title is lecturer, I am terribly sorry that bothers you so much.
My title at Raja was lecturer too but none of us ever used it, obviously. Just always curious why you always did.
Never used another term in reality. Its just what the job title is. Simple. But I dont work at a government university. A lot more benefits and your salary goes up every two years.
Occasionally, a few TU teachers post on this website. There was on campus housing available near the student housing in the past but not sure if that is still available. Talk to the other teachers there to see if any are staying on-campus. Maybe your department head can get you into housing there. There is a waiting list but he might be able to help you out. The housing is dirt cheap but offers one-two bedrooms and air along with cable.
Other than living at the campus there are many apartments with small rooms available just outside the university door on what is known as the Interpark side. That would be very convenient but you'd have to face living side-by-side with students which is annoying in my opinion.
There are also some housing units just across from TU on the main road (Phaholyothin Road). If you choose to stay there you can probably get a 'songtaew' which is one of those pickup trucks turned into minivans which would take you to the campus during the day time. Having a small motorcycle would probably be better but you need to be used to driving in traffic to use it around there.
There are at least two van services which go to and from the university daily that would take you to Rangsit, BTS station at MorChit or the area of Sanam Luang and the Bangkok TU campus. it is possible to live in BKK and commute but there are a lot of students who do this so the vans usually have a wait line.

If you really aren't sure what to do, you could keep your BKK place and commute for a few weeks and figure out something. Ask your coworkers and the students. Good luck to you.
That's great information. Cheers.
In the short-term I will rent across from TU for a month or 2 and make a call when i'm on the ground as it were. Commuting from Bkk is an option in the longer term. I can ride a bike in traffic so I should be ok.
The picture shows the van line at the Bangkok campus?
