If you could read and understand my words, you'll see that climate change involves both climate warming and cooling which create the increasing numbers and severity of floods, storms, tornados, droughts and so on, all within an overall prohress towards the next ice age as part of an ongoing extinction phase.

How rapidly we proceed along that path is partly to do with increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere instead of being in the sea, where it would mitigate against the increasing aragonite (acid) sea mineral content which is thecprecursor condition for an extinction event.

I think MrG has posted earlier in the thread a reference to further reading on the topic of extinction phases, sections of whoch explain how the mechanism is postulated to work.

Both you and Rainfall ought to read a little more widely before coming out with the political or simply negative comments you both make when any reference to a scientific base explanation to ongoing climate change is made or offered by others.

Try to remember also that the world is not run by America, neither do its politicians and political parties' names mean anything to most of the world, and their wafflings provide absolutely no explanation nor solution to climate problems whatsoever..

What's going on is not driven by humans either, as Rainfall likes to happily believe, as though humanity caused and changed major climatic events in the past. Humans are just one tiny part of the equation, and have only started to seriously impact on climatic events in the last 150 years or so.

As a side issue to climate change, as I've pointed out earlier, humanity is more likely to die from respiratory collapse and metabolic dysfunction due to polluted air and water (consequently food supplies) than through rising sea levels, increased temperatures or an extinction event other than two possibilities.

One possibility, is a major comet or meteorite impact on earth, and the other more likely scenario is a major seismic event, involving a tsunami of global proportions. This too is linked to global warming, of the earth's tectonic plates, which also expand and contract, resulting in continuous seismic activity globally.

Given that the majority of the human population is living at less than 150 ft above sea level, the potential for a mass wipe-out of human civilisation if such a tsunami did occurr is huge.

Based on the science, they know if you keep pumping CO2 into the atmosphere at the same rate, the place is going to get hotter. No questions asked.

In the same way, I don't "know" if I'm going to be hit by a car if I close my eyes and start to cross 5 lanes of traffic at rush hour, but the odds are against me.

The theory of whole earth expansion and decompression dynamics explains a lot about how the earth does warm up. The theory ties in neatly with plate tectonics theory of crustal expansion, but contradicts the conveyor belt theory of plate subsduction.

In the theory of expansion dynamics, heat created by the decomposition of minerals etc in the earth below the crust can only rise, so magma flow continues to be extruded in the form of basalt at sub-oceanic ridges causing the earth to expand. Very little basalt is extruded from volcanoes in comparison.

In this theory, the expansion has almost come to an end, and excess heat from the core continues to rise into the cooler crust. As no subduction occurs, only folding due to lateral compression of expanding plates occur, along with transverse faulting which gaive rise to mountain building and most earthquakes.

Coupled with increasing CO2 levels and an increase in solar flare activity, both atmospheric and sea temperatures will rise.

Cooling of the earth will only occur when atmospheric CO2 levels drop and a decrease in solar activity occurs, this activity being cyclic. Meanwhile, the ongoing heat generation below the crust will continue to heat earth's surface, including the seas, excess heat becoming trapped by an increasingly carbon rich polluted atmosphere.

The cooling effect, the next ice age, due to decreasing solar activity and dissipation of core generated heat into an atmosphere less dense than today's, will only start to become evident in possibly 2,000 years. That cooling may then trigger the subduction and re-absorbtion of CO2, into the oceans once more.

The extinction phase won't be halted, though.

I have no doubt that climate change has been going on for thousands or millions of years. There have been ice ages in the past. We're not in an ice age now so the climate must have changed. I believe it's normal and natural and not related to carbon emissions.
