Is it all falling apart at the seams?

So, am I the only one who thinks this mob have probably lost the plot, lost control of things a little, that things are falling apart at the seams, that they're making up "policy" as they go, and that things are likely to change soon?

I saw in the papers the other day that even Thaksin is more popular than this mob. Surely that cannot be allowed to last for long.

Shouldn't threads about the Bush administration be under "issues"?

Name one Thai administration who did things properly. You can't? Didn't think so...

I've thought this for some time. The only decisive thing the adminstration seems to have done is to vote themselves a 30% increase in the defence budget.

Remind me again why Thaksin had to go.

He ran a corrupt administration - to state that politicians are corrupt is a bit like saying business men wear suits - yes, and so what's new.

Thaksin tried to shackle the media - no change there then.

He formulated populist policies - is that supposed to be a bad thing?

Thaksin sold his company to a foreign entity - the swine, that's it then hanging is too good for him.

Methinks that Thais discovering that even though a company is owned by foreigners, life goes on, the sky doesn't fall in, rice farmers still grow rice, the middle classes still get to buy nice new shiny cars, is maybe a good thing.
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

talking about rice, this particular measure looks like it may be about as popular as rabbies:

Farmers cry foul over plan to tax sales of paddy rice

    SOONTHON PONGPAO and WICHIT CHANTANUSORNSIRI
Farmers are crying foul over the Revenue Department's proposed 0.75% tax to be levied on sales of paddy rice.
However, the department insisted the proposed tax is targeted only at merchants and middlemen who have dodged taxes and made profits from such sales

^ I can't see a problem with that, except of course the middlemen will just pass the cost of their tax onto the farmers.

Anyway, you free Wed PM Willie?

Thailand is like an Isaan family with a disorganised, sometimes abusive alcoholic Dad (the Military) being periodically taken over by Thai-Chinese businessmen whose orgy of greed invariably leads to drunken Dad taking over control again, over and over again...

When you have citizens like this it must be hard to hold the place together

Not sure why the link looks like that but it is about a thai woman who got on the wrong bus and it took her 25 years to get back home

William, I'm afraid as Marmers pointed out your question presupposes that it was stitched together at the seams at some point in the past.

I think you meant to say 'competent crooks and incompetent crooks'

I think the military did try to intervene on "honnest" ground, but the military is split, and then you have those crooks onboard also, thanks to Thaksin.
