    Questions about Islam

This thread is not to debate anything on Islam. There are other threads for this.

I have a couple of theological questions. Macha can help here, if he wants to. It's not a trick question, or anything.

Is there a day of judgment, when the dead will waken?

Just curious because I studied some religions in school and I forgot some things on basic Islamic beliefs.

Many religions have a "judgment" day. I think Jehova's Witnesses believe on judgment day only 144,000 will go to heaven and the rest will stay on Earth.

Yes, Islam believes in the "Last Day", or Day of Judgment when the dead will rise to be judged and gather rewards or punishments. Only Allah knows when this day will come.

    Davis, thanks.

So, to clarify: The dead will awaken or rise? Out of their graves? Walking around?

^I don't actually think it's a Night of the Living Dead" sequel, as entertaining as that might be. It simply states that the good will rise to Heaven, and the evil descend to Hell, based on their deeds in life - I presume this to mean spirits, rather than rotting corpses. If it were bodies rather than spirits, it would discriminate against suicide bombers, who are, of course, usually in little, teeny pieces.
