    Gun Rights in Peril

    Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Based on his voting record in the Illinois state senate and in the U.S. Senate, President-elect Barack Obama will be the most anti-Second Amendment president in the history of America.
In January, the new President will govern alongside congressional leadership, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who are also extremely hostile to gun rights and who now enjoy greatly expanded majorities.
There can be little doubt about the direction in which gun rights are headed. The questions are how far will the anti-gunners go and how fast will they move?
Many comparisons have been made to the first two years of the first Clinton Administration, in which one party controlled both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Almost all experts agree that it was Clinton's overreaching on issues like gun control that cost his party control of Congress. Barack Obama will start out governing with even larger majorities than did Clinton. Obama ran a campaign high on rhetoric and short on specifics. The President-elect claims he will govern from the middle, but the question for gun owners is which Obama will show up at the White House -- the "centrist" from the campaign trail, or the radical anti-Second Amendment extremist who supports gun bans, waiting periods for firearm purchases, one gun a month restrictions, and more?

    Shock, horror.
I have a suggestion for President Obama. Package valium with gun sales, to help treat the NRA's unrelenting neuroticism.

What is this "one gun a month thing?"
You can buy one gun a month?

Never gone into the US gun thing but just for info , what sort of guns can people buy??

A friend in Kentucky a few years ago showed me his "gun room" - he and his dad had enough to take over a small African country !!!!

Dunno about one gun a month. I have managed to get by with one gun all of my life. Well since the age of 12. When my father handed me my first and only gun. 12 bore double barrel (side by side) shotgun.

Lets face it, USA is awash with guns of all kinds now and any law to ban them would not be effective. The honest folks would disarm first and gun lobbies predictions of the baddies ending up with all the guns would come true. It would take generations to reduce the level of guns in Yankyland significantly. Better to open up the trade in guns, put a big tax on them, and let them go on shooting each other if thats what they like. A bit like cigarettes. Cigarettes don't kill, the people who smoke em do.

I think it is a bunch of shit that more guns owned by private citizens means more crime, most country's that have strict gun control or bans which ever, have a lot more crime than the USA.
I have owned guns all my life, have a room full of em back home, not sure of the count, but between 60 and 80 counting hand and long guns, rifled and smooth bore guns.

Just most of you fuckers ain't never been allowed to own one so you are just jealous of us folks whose ancestors kicked the shit outta Britain for the freedom to own em.

Thats basically what I think Panda- license and register guns and gunowners, and tax them to pay for it.

Not so you could notice it 'Fuckstick', My dad was a kind of collector and so am I as are some other members of my family, they see a gun they like and buy it, but never sell a gun, and we all are avid hunters, lived on ranches in the country and hunted for meat and shot varmits and animals that threatened our livestock.
My dad left me his guns when he died and I still have a rifle and a pistol that my grandpa bought new in 1903.
Plus there is financial rewards to owning rare and well made guns, and they do increase in value even if you do not sell them, I have one shotgun I bought my dad for Christmas in 1962 a shotgun for $190 and it is now appraised at over $3000.

OH, Now Panda Baby, you want to talk about Murders, I thought it was Crime.
Well OK we do that then, but US at #8 is a democratic govt and everyone except felons can legally own guns.
I do not know how many before #8 has total gun bans that are strictly enforced except Mexico at #5 and Thailand at #3 where we can not own a gun and everyone must get a govt permit before they can own any gun and that includes Air Guns.

Plus the fact that just a lot of people in the USA just need killing, and most of the killing and crime is in predominately Black areas and in Washington DC which had a gun ban, is right up there in Black/Killings and Detroit Mich. where Black/Killing is also the highest city's for crime?killings.

I am from the Great PNW, Oregon to be exact, where murders and crime are at a low count, I don't know what it is but you can look it up if you are interested and you know in the Pacific North West we have trees that will go 20 feet on the stump and stand over 100 meters tall.

I'm not a good barometer, so I just checked with my wife.

In 14 months living in Los Angeles, she never saw any kind of gun, firearm, knife or catapult (except on-duty police). I won't dispute there are a lot of guns -- but I know without a doubt they're not as pervasive as some here suggest.

Hey, I am not about to try and prevent your inaliable right under the US constitution to bear arms. If you guys want to go on shooting each other its fine by me.

With the appreciation in value of your private arms cache it sounds you could afford to pay some extra tax on new acquisitions.

Better keep them guns ready, ya never know when those sneaky Pohms might try and take the place back.

That's because you are such a clean livin and upstanding person Tex, who didn't mix with those scummy persons (of other racial origin; -- PC ? )

According to Blackgang there are loads of good people who need guns to protect themselves from the murderous hoards in the big cities of USA.

Why should I have to pay an extra tax when it is my constitutional right to own guns.
Just so you lazy lay about Brits that have way to high a tax and think everyone should be like you..

And no one afraid of you sneaky Poms, whipped your ass a couple times and trhen came and bailed you out 2 more with a cost of American Trooper's lives.

    FUCK OFF.
