So Fox News did a segment which was ostensibly a 'debate' on "THE LEFT'S RACIST RANTS CONTINUE" where an angry entitled white dude shouted down a black guy.

Of course it being Fox and all it went a bit predictably haywire when David Bossie - a former senior Trump campaign aide and president of the conservative group Citizens United - told Joel Payne, a Democratic strategist and a black man, that he was "out of your cotton-picking mind!"

Because Fox. Because right-wing professional victims.

I do not know of any news programs that don't push some agenda. Fox news pushes a right wing agenda. ABC/BBC pushes a left wing agenda. RT pushes Vlads agenda. Algazeera pushes a more arabic slanted agenda. Etc etc. None are all wrong and None are all right. My Father always taught me "Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see".
The far left PC lobby see the far right as rascists, mysogynists and homophobes who will destroy the country. The far right see the far left PC lobby as destroyers of culture and free speech who will destroy the country.
In that, both are to some degree correct. The truth is very rarely found at either end of the spectrum. The tragedy is people at either end are either too blind too myopic or too stupid to see it.
Td can be a great place for political discourse. It's a shame that it usually ends up in general vindictiveness and abuse. In my experience abuse is the resort of those with little intellectual rigour or knowledge to support their view. Instead they drown out others with abuse or labels. This of course doesn't prove their argument. It only shows their lack of any critical thinking skills and narrow minded opinion.
    Please feel free to abuse.

    Have you watched fox news recently? Attempting to draw parallel to them and any other media outlet at this point is crazy. They are basically a full on state media outlet at this point ala North Korean state news. Nothing even comes close the massive amount of lies and distortions that it is pushing right now. This is what you get every day on fox news;

Every day they hammer away like this. Every day. No other media outlet in the US comes anywhere close to pumping out this propaganda.

I live in Thailand. My wife likes to watch CNN because of the color. It is better than the BBC's color. I am getting tired of CNN's proposition the news is not news unless it is a negative Trump story. Every bit of news is tied into the attempted Trump coup that is being conducted by the media. I don't watch Fox because I can't get it on my TV with the same clarity as CNN.

I do have a question. Is there a news service that is not trying to sidestep the American election process and change the current leadership?

It would be nice if they also had good color. I don't like Trump. I really don't like Hillary (I lived in Arkansas when they were in charge.) I'm neutral. I'd like a news service that was too. I don't need anyone to tell me how to think. I just want news.

A newspaper started the Spanish American war. A newspaper made pot illegal. I believe in freedom of the press but the public is getting so ignorant and so many fake stories are floated and even the FBI is trying to influence elections before and after the fact. Someone should give some guidance in the form of an unbiased media. Maybe there is one and I just have not found them. AP so far is my go to source of news most days.

Fell asleep in history class eh?
In 1898, the US Navy battleship, the USS Maine, blew up while off Havana, Cuba, killing more than 250 Americans. The cause was never discovered. But the yellow press jumped to the conclusion that the Spanish did it deliberately. “Remember the Maine” became the slogan of the yellow press, driving public opinion toward war. Fake news is nothing new. Its impact has waxed and waned through American history. But there was a golden age of "yellow journalism," back in the 1890s, when fake news helped start a war.

Two men are primarily responsible for the modern federal-level legal prohibition of marijuana that has been in existence for the past 78 years: Harry Anslinger and William Randolph Hearst. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Randolph_Hearst

Free history ride is over. I stated, "A newspaper started the Spanish American war. A newspaper made pot illegal." Those are accurate statements. You have posted nothing to discredit them. "There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S., and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others.” “Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”

Now what high official in the US government do you think wrote that? You can look it up. It all stems from the media writing anti pot stories in what was called yellow journalism.

    How Marijuana Became Illegal

Read it and make up your own mind.

The rules state, "Remember No flaming or abuse allowed. All posts should include your opinion on the subject, not your opinion of the member posting." Every post you have directed at me contains an insult and personal attack. So, like I told you, you are on my ignore list and I shall no longer attempt to improve your history education.

I don't watch Fox but I imagine they are one of the media who side with the old time Yellow Journalists and Narcotics cops that pot is a gateway drug and all the racist stuff.

Fox, Hurst and Anslinger peas in a pod.

It shows him that not everyone will allow flaming, abuse and personal attacks. He might have had something worthwhile to contribute or perhaps I could have learned something from him but I won't tolerate the insults and personal attacks with his every post. Not just me it is his posting style. Look at his other posts. His style of insult and personal attack reduces the number of posters like myself who are interested in debate and not a barroom brawl.

So, I agree with you, that will show him.

    Yep.
Not just in political discussions either. There are some who thrive in just trolling and trying to be the funny man.

But I must agree with BSnub re Fox: they are not just a right-wing slanted medium, they are out and out a propaganda machine and if the US has an advertising standards law they should be prohibited from calling themselves "News".

I don't watch Fox much if at all but anytime I do watch them I agree with you. I don't like the policy of insulting innuendo. CNN used to be OK but since Trump they are the same way.

Unfortunately except for not watching them both Fox and CNN I see no way to regulate them without infringing on the First Amendment. I am afraid like on this forum all you can do is put them on ignore and don't watch. I listen to AP and that's a bit better. BBC is a bit better but there is all the Savile pedo stuff there, so I avoid it like I avoid the Pope for the same reason. If you can't control your own you aren't to be trusted.

I think you miss the inarguable fact that Trump IS a liar, a philanderer, and not very educated. CNN are just pointing out the facts. It's not a slant to point out facts albeit enjoying pointing out the facts.
He's also an embarrassment to the country on the world scale. HUGE embarrassment. Huge.

Same point in Presidency Trump approval rating 47% Obama 47% Reagan 46%. I would submit it is just you who is embarrassed.
Or it is the same level of embarrassment as Obama and Reagan.

CNN has a left bias in story selection that often favors the left while being critical of the right

Overall, we rate CNN left biased based on story selection that often favors the left. We rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to misinformation and failed fact checks from guests and pundits.

Overall, we rate Fox News strongly Right-Biased due to word and story selection that favors the right and Mixed factually based on poor sourcing and spreading conspiracy theories that later must be retracted.

    Both reports from Mediabiasfactcheck.com

Peas in a pod. CNN is bad and Fox is worse. Both bad.

Why on earth would I be embarrassed?
It is undeniable that Trump is a liar, a narccissist, a philanderer, and incompetent. Why would that embarrass me? Embarrass any decent or intelligent US citizen, but not me.

You wrote, "He's also an embarrassment to the country on the world scale. HUGE embarrassment. Huge." I said no more so than Obama and/or Reagan all of whose approval ratings were about the same 47% at the same time in their Presidency. So you are wrong. Also I'm an American and you are not. I think I know more about the mood of the country than you do plus I back up my opinions with accurate date. Story says poll shows Trump tied to Obama at same point in presidency | PunditFact

Trump is a liar, a narccissist, a philanderer, and incompetent. So? Presidents Who Have Had Known Affairs

At least he didn't violate a cigar or despoil the oval office. Talk about incompetent, who let Pearl Harbor happen or pardoned the nazi war criminals who killed millions? who hired one of them to direct the space program? What idiot sent me to Vietnam when he knew there was no chance of winning the war and exposed me to Agent orange?

Naw. Americans aren't surprised or embarrassed. Been there and done that before.

Although you bring up a good point. Most of the anti American postings I read are from Brits or Aussies do they have Fox news there? CNN has a London edition and they have loony experts from obscure colleges in the UK discussing American politics which in my experience people from the UK or Australia know very little about American politics certainly not enough to discuss it intelligently on TV same thing with other subjects which seem to trip their triggers like gun control.

You'll never find me posting about Brexit. I don't know enough about it.

I've a feeling all the anti Trump stuff is just misplaced anti Americanism. Obama got a pass because he was black and Hillary would have got one too because she is a woman but after that it would be back to the same old rants. Fox gets the bad reviews because it tries to be pro Trump not because anything about their reporting style actually upsets anyone.

Since I don't like either party I can be impartial and informed and tell you that the average thoughtful American dislikes CNN as much as Fox. Fox News handily won the the February TV cable news ratings race. So I guess most Americans are not as anti Fox as I am.

I started reading Adweek years ago when I was in college. May 2018 Fox News remained the most-watched basic cable network in May among total day viewers, defeating the competition for the 23rd consecutive month, per Nielsen data.

Americans have preferred to watch Fox for the 23rd consecutive month. Trump and Fox news are more popular that other news shows in America.

For those who are interested in the truth read, https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/may-...-months/365840

I'm always impartial and objective and just interested in the facts.
