    Prom banned in Missssippi

A couple of high school lesbians wanted to go as couple to the prom. One on the girls wanted to wear tux.
The school morons said no. The muff divers said but that a violation of our civil right.
    Which is true.
    So the school cancels prom.
Let her wear a foking tux! Who cares?

    Stupid monkeys

JACKSON, Miss. – An 18-year-old Mississippi lesbian student whose school district canceled her senior prom rather than allow her to escort her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo said she got some unfriendly looks from classmates when she reluctantly returned to campus Thursday.
Constance McMillen said she didn't want to go back the day after the Itawamba County school board's decision, but her father told her she needed to face her classmates, teachers and school officials.
"My daddy told me that I needed to show them that I'm still proud of who I am," McMillen told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "The fact that this will help people later on, that's what's helping me to go on."
The district announced Wednesday it wouldn't host the April 2 prom. The decision came after the American Civil Liberties Union told officials a policy banning same-sex prom dates violated students' rights. The ACLU said the district not letting McMillen wear a tuxedo violated her free expression rights

Self-absorbed queers. Pick a public venue to make their statement, which is of course of no fucking interest to anyone but them, then, when they are told community morals (whether that be right or wrong) won't allow them to publicly flaunt their homosexuality, make sure the event is ruined for every student in the school. This is a small town High School where the senior prom may well be the most significant social event of the year for these graduating seniors. Now canceled due to two fags. I don't personally think the decision to cancel was correct, and I would have let the little lezbo wear the tux, but it does piss me off that people like this intentionally stage events like this to highlight their "cause", not caring at all what impact it has on others. I doubt the fat girl is even a lesbian, more likely just a fat slob loser seeking attention.

I don't see the big deal.

One girl at my 9th grade prom who was and is straight wore a tux/guys suit.

    So what?

And why cancel it all together. Alabama is different than other parts of the country on these matters, IMO.

^^It's Mississippi, not Alabama - although I'll admit your point. But, being from a super-conservative small southern town, they knew exactly what the end result would be.

^ I don't think the US is devolving. I think attitudes have changed a lot in recent decades.

A black President (or half black, or one that looks black) was an inconcevable thing a couple years ago to many - but it happened.

Attitudes about gays and mixed-marriages have changed as well, IMO.

And remember, differnt parts of the USA have different attitudes in general about certain issues.

The school officials should have let the girls play dress up. It's not like they're trying to get a marriage license. Now it becomes an issue way bigger than they are.
Pretty soon they will be able to get marriage licenses because of stupid crap like this.

Strange that the school canceled the whole prom. Just let the girls wear whatever they want and get over it, are they scared that everybody else will catch the ghey or something?

This is OT but I've never thought Obama looks "black. "
His complexion is dark toned but he has Caucasian facial features.

When a person who actually has black skin and other African features gets elected -when a nigger does,

    that'll be the day .

I knew you were short sighted on some issues, but he sure as hell does look like a nigger to me, even tho he does have some human features, it is not hard to tell.

Oh hell .. I agree that Puff and Pufftett be allowed to go to the prom and dress however they want. Then all the lefties would hoop and shout that progress is being made and the world is progressing.

But I would also love to see 16 yo junior Sally Anne come escorted by her 43 yo, Billy Joe Bubba boyfriend to the same prom. Wonder what the lefties would do, then ?

    Point to prove, anyone?

    Morons. Gotta love 'em.

What's the point of staging an event to highlight a cause if it doesn't have any effect on others?

Nothing probably since in your hypothetical situation both parties are over the age of consent in Miss.

Care to pull out another straw man?

^^Impact on others was that the prom was canceled for the entire student body. Read the OP.

Nor is homosexuality illegal ... legality (e.g., age of consent) is not the point, here ... take another hit of oxygen, slack

Exactly, the point is that they canceled the entire prom because they were scared of a girl wearing a tux. This has absolutely nothing to do with the feeble strawman argument you puked out.

Both have to do with public prejudices and ideals beyond the scope of the law.

You wouldn't be chance be from Miss, would you ?

No, re-read my post. Assuming that they were looking for publicity then they reached their target.

You can only put up with so much shit, look at the news coming from place that have continually been run over and let things change to remain calm and PC.
There has to be an end to endless compremise and bullshit from the nutters.

I have never been to a Prom in my life, and I do not take shit from a bunch of silly assholes that seem to think theur way is cool and I can shove mine up my ass,, well fuck them.
And my life has been comfortable and mostly enjoyable, I be damned if I gonna change this late in life..

    IMHO

Reading & responding to this late.

Personally, I feel that this has been turned into a political issue, rather than a school dress code one & has been blown out of proportion.

But, the question I keep coming back to is: Why did she ask permission? Why not just turn up in the tux?

    ^^^

Some schools in the US have dress codes (some quite strict) for the prom- if a student shows up in attire that does not conform to the code, they can be barred from entering- if a tux wasn't specifically listed as being acceptable for women, she could have simply been refused entry and she would have had no recourse.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
