Many posters are aware of this already.

But here Rush Limbaugh tells how he gets attention of listeners, and discusses his formula. He aptly notes the formula is the same as it was in the past:

Well, his premise re this stimulus bill is correct in my book. If you are in debt to your eyeballs and go out and spend (on credit) more money to get even further in debt w/out means to pay...?

He's the antithesis of patriotism. He's even the antithesis of true conservatism, having no regard for privacy and non-interventionism, two cornerstones of conservative philosophy. He's boring, too.

And just think before Limbaugh came along the left had a monopoly on doing this sort of thing. I believe the left painted their "enemies" into the corner by accusing people of being knuckle-dragging fascists or nazis if anyone happened to question them. I think he's worth every penny he's paid. He may be a blowhard but he's our blowhard and the left wishes they had one, oh wait, the left has John Stewart, and all the other leftist satirists who preceded him.

Nothing wrong with generating vivid visuals, but I think you're constructing a "non-existent" "reality" which has a tone of "us-and-them".



The Youtube video: He's talking about one particular show host formula that the caller brought up: making the listner mad. He doesn't say this is the formula he uses or the only formula he uses. He says his idea is to get people to enjoy listening to him. He says a good radio show host can get people who dissagree with him to listen too. The trick is to hold both the 'lovers' and the 'haters'. What's so sinister about that?

Why does the left have difficulty fighting ideas with their own ideas? If Obama succedes Limbaugh will sound shrill. Where's the problem? People have had a belly full of Bush and they are willing to listen to someone else's bull shit for awhile. We'll see how it goes. What do people think of Geitner getting approved in committee despite being a tax cheat? Change we can believe in!

Who knows what the "stimulus" package should look like? All agree something needs to be done.

Not necessarly - to let the free market dynamics work this out w/out mortgaging yoour great-grandchildren's paycheck? What a bunch of whimps folks are becoming these days! Unemployment, interest rates etc were all at much higher levels during the Carter years and all it took to get the US economy going again was fiscal responsibility and tax cuts by Reagan to turn it all around! We didn't need a socialist in the WH right now...

I agree! Both Dems and Republicans have got it wrong throwing money at this won't solve a bloody thing. Will only encourage more of the same.

Government should fix and regulate a broken system that allows banks and speculators irresponsible risk adventures.

Not do nothing but don't recind the Bush tax cuts. Plus, give a tax 'holiday' of some duration to small businesses to generate jobs. During this time period it will allow the banking lending bottleneck to ease.

Ask yerself this: Why isn't the Congress acting like there's an emergency?

Nothing "sinister" about it as such, if it weren't for the many 'fans' who are not aware of how they are being had and mistake his demagogy for "facts" and "ideas". Similar to many Coulter fans. Very hard to argue and point out the hyperbole to the converted - I have wasted my efforts on this before.

I wouldn't take a John Stewart or Michael Moore at face value, either, though they make for good entertainment if you're into that kind of stuff.

i for one find it very telling (and amusing) that the most prominent republican voice in america doesn't belong to an elected official...but rather to an obese, drug addicted, AM talk radio host.
