    Obama Wins

Not much else to say . . . Obama wins and now watch the right-wing loonies go after him at every turn.

The US Embassy held a 'party' here at the ballroom of a nice hotel here - it was fun!

Yes, in some ways it was as I know now that poor Hanoi Jane did not have a coronary arrest that her candidate lost. She'll be around for a while yet to do a book-tour and I might get the chance to do a Red Man Gob on her!

Relax Texpat . . . this erection lasted two years at a cost of 1.5 billion of your shekels.

I must admit that I was moved by Obama's speech, he really is an excellent orator, let's just hope that his actions keep pace with the rhetoric. Time will tell.

McCain seemed to be glad it was all over, he seemed so ill-at-ease with his new position, blowing the right-wing at every corner . . . it did sound like his offer of assistance to Obama was sincere . . . but then I am a softie liberal who believes there is actually still some good in this world.

It is a good day for the US, Texpat. A lot of the ill-will engendered By Bush the last few years will be eroded . . . and whether you like it ro not, that translates directly into better relations with important economic partners.

It also has shown that the US is finally in step with much of the world in ceasing the long continuum of elitist rule. The US has matured politically . . .

It is a good day for the US . . . smile about it.

    That's Life...what can you say...

That's life, that's what all the people say.
    You're riding high in April,
    Shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune,
When I'm back on top, back on top in June.

I said that's life, and as funny as it may seem
    Some people get their kicks,
    Stompin' on a dream
But I don't let it, let it get me down,
'Cause this fine ol' world it keeps spinning around

    I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
    A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
    And I know one thing:
Each time I find myself, flat on my face,
I pick myself up and get back in the race.

    That's life
    I tell ya, I can't deny it,
    I thought of quitting baby,
But my heart just ain't gonna buy it.
And if I didn't think it was worth one single try,
I'd jump right on a big bird and then I'd fly

    I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,
    A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
    And I know one thing:
Each time I find myself laying flat on my face,
I just pick myself up and get back in the race

    That's life
    That's life and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cutting out
But my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothing shakin' come this here july
I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die
    My, My

PH if you think this election will have the sweeping effect you've described, your head's in the clouds. Really.

Thre will be subtle changes here and there. But not much will change.

Aside from reduced national security and increased taxation...perhaps.

. . . and on of the least offensive . . . amazing how silent the voices were during the Bush years of excess and mismanagement . . . always harking back to 9/11 as an excuse for everything . . .

    Brainwashed and indoctrinated, it seems.

I have just got home from work and finally taken a look at the acceptance speech.

I am not often as moved.

This is a remarkable event, a great day for us all.

God bless the USA, especially the 56% that voted for the man.

those on this forum who have wrapped themselves in the flag for the last 7 years have been exposed by their recent posts as nothing but bitter partisans. it was never really about patriotism....but all about supporting the RNC.

    let's be totally honest Booners.

this is a victory of good over bad.

a bit slow on the uptake was America which is the reason those of us elsewhere have felt frustrated.
fukking overjoyed they saw it in the end.

Well, before 'Buyers Remorse' sets in, enjoy your day in the sun, cavorting with the unicorns, hope, change and singing kumbayah, while it lasts and believe me, it won’t be all that long...

Unlike some of you folks who call elections whenever your leaders are screwing up we have this silly rule of having Presidential elections every four years. Takes some time but we get it right in the end.

I am not holding my breath. This "bringing about change" songis sung by every politco that runs for office from school board member to the almighty president's office.

Republican or Democrat, they all take care of them and theirs and when it comes to anyone else they are all forgotten until the promises are made next election.

Then it starts all over again.
