    hillary clinton....redux

not her campaign, but her thread here in issues.

does anyone outside of her staunchest supporters still believe she has a chance at the nomination?

obama has won more contests, has more pledged delegates, and leads in the popular vote. in fact, if you take the super delegates already pledged to obama, he's within a whisper of the 2025 needed. if the vast majority of super delegates were to suddenly overturn the decision of the voters, the dems would be doomed in november, because the voters will stay home.

some conspiratorial minded types are putting forth that she intends to damage obama so severely in the primary so that he can't win the general in november....so that she can be the white 'knight' in 2012---realistically her last shot at the presidency. at this point i don't subscribe to this theory, but it is without a doubt an interesting one.

these last few days on the campaign trail she has demonstrated that she will do just about anything to get elected...i'm speaking of her highly orchestrated trips to the gas station and the convenience store.....where she didn't know how to pump the gas or make the coffee. whoops.

and speaking of gas, i'd bet she's starting to regret jumping on mccain's dopey gas tax 'holiday' plan.

hillary lost another 'super' delegate yesterday...and he's the former head of the DNC---and he was appointed by bill clinton. ouch.

and for those who think hillary still has a chance (and i don't think there are any here)....
David Plouffe, the manager of Mr. Obama’s campaign, said that if Mrs. Clinton won 55 percent of the remaining pledged delegates — an assumption he called “overly generous” — she would still need about two-thirds of the remaining uncommitted superdelegates to reach the 2,025 delegates needed to secure the nomination.

Mrs. Clinton’s advisers did not dispute Mr. Plouffe’s calculation, in effect acknowledging the enormousness of their task.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/02/us...erland&emc=rss

here's hoping a mass of superdelegates publicly announce on the 7th that they're in the obama camp, so that the clinton campaign is finally put down.

^Stroll, you're wrong. There is one, but only in the event Obama loses the Democratic nomination.

In my case, I have said I'd rather vote for McCain than Hilary, but have been quite impressed by her performance against Bill O'Reilly this week. I am open to anything at this point, but still supporting Obama.

    Hillary is godly.

--"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said April 22 in an interview with ABC. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

    She's got my vote.

I think part of the reason that Hillary has lasted this long is a concerted campaign by the Republicans to make it so. This includes-

Rush Bimbaugh's "Operation Chaos" - in which Republicans are urged to vote for Hillary in the State primaries.

Faux News has been paying great attention to Pastor Wright, and giving Hillary lots of airtime. Recently, the Bill O'Reilly interview.

And if the Press I read here is indicative of what you read in the US, then I'm well informed about Baracks 'elitism', Pastor, early schooling, a fundraiser at some blokes place who was once with the 'weather underground', Micheles undergrad thesis, and so on. I have to dig however to find such trivia as Obamas demolition of the stoopid gas tax holiday, and his actual policies- which put him streets ahead of Mccain (none) and Hillary (bribing blue collar votes).

So much for the 'left leaning' press.

The point is, the people that matter see right through it- but they won't come out and say so for fear of being labelled biased. Obama has a pretty much unasailable lead amongst the Dem delegates now, and Hillary and Right Wing Republicans (of which Mccain is Not one) make very strange bed partners. My opinion is that she has no chance- the cheap votes she's gained, well how many of them are Republican anyway when it comes to the real elections, and she's lost her credibility and made a Faustian compact in the process (look it up, Right Wingers).

yesterday's assassination comments should stop any talk about her in the VP slot.
why would she ever say something like that?

I need to read the context and place of these comments.

Is it true they were said in private?

Regardless, they are not relevant as the dates and times of the runnings and the election process was different FORTY YEARS AGO.

It's another slip by Hillary, who has slipped, and is continually slipping as she continues to be.....herself.

    Good riddance.

This election is her last chance, IMO.

    Good riddance.

    not at all.

it was in response to questions by the editorial board of some newspaper...and it was broadcast on streaming video.

    it should be on youtube.

She was making the point that both her husband, Bill, and B Kennedy were democratic candidates whose campaigns were not decided until California (in June) ... so why does everyone expect her to quit now?

Tempest in a teacup. The Dems are looking for a reason that'll convince her to throw in the towel. If they lose the general election, Hillary will be the one assassinated for hangining on too long.

She was done long before this week anyway.

Shes just one power craving female who would say any thing to be Presidant .

I think she wants to get into the Oval office so bad so she can take it up the rear with some security guard to get even with Bill and Monica ! I am convinced she would eat her own shit to win .

    Good riddance.

The Jews will vote for her. I'd imagine most of them would hope for an Obama assassination anyways so that the business between Iran and Israel can be done away with.

What's ironic to me is that last I checked, Israel has nukes already, and Iran doesn't...at least not that we know of...so, then Mr. McCain may be rightful of the check on the checklist.

Obama'll probably be dead by then anyways.

I feel another Cold War coming on...no massive destruction, just a cycle of threats, anxiety, gloom and doom...and resulting shitty economies that even Thailand is becoming a victim of. At the end, in a decade, there will be another shaking of hands, an agreement, and no mushroom clouds spawning over the Earth.

We'll make it! Just buckle your seat belts for another rollercoaster ride.

Didn't both sides have nukes during the cold war, deterring each other from acting on their respective hate-propaganda?

here's a first hand account of what happened...

We had a front-row seat to this very strange day, and we want to describe the whole thing for you because it says a lot about the state of Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, about the media and about politics in the Internet age.
On the Road: Clintons Very Bad Day - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog

    well worth reading IMO.

I'm a Brit so I can ask stupid questians about America right.
If Clinton does ok in the future that would mean that only two families have had control of the US for the last twenty years ? Scary No?
