RAWALPINDI, Pakistan - Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was seriously wounded in an attack after a rally in the city of Rawalpindi, her husband said.


"I was informed that she is badly injured," Asif Ali Zardari told Ary-One television from Dubai.

A report just in says she's dead.

RAWALPINDI, Islamabad — An attack on a political rally killed the Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto near the capital, Islamabad, Thursday. Witnesses said Ms. Bhutto was fired upon before the blast, and an official from her party said Ms. Bhutto was further injured by the explosion, which was apparently caused by a suicide attacker.

The politician is said to have been shot twice at close range as she entered her car after an election rally speech before a suicide bomber blew himself up close by.

A party aide said she was shot once in the neck and once in the chest as her car pulled into a main street.

He counted about 20 bodies, including police, and could see many other wounded

My opinion about her is that she is more interested in herself having power than actually making any effort to improve the country, and that she is of no real loss to Pakistan. Reading interviews with her are very enlightening. The only things that really interest her are shopping in Oxford Street and trying to make her father a martyr. Her view on serious issues such as Kashmir were romantic and completely out of touch with the reality of the situation.

I didn't want to say all that, but now you know my immediate thoughts about her.
