Good god, what a remarkably stupid comment. Last time he was in office, he started an insurrection and tried to dismantle democracy, amongst other things.

    Ok

Here's where I do not follow.

Are you suggesting, that a qualification for being a "Topleader" is "morals and conscience" ?

If you really believe that these people are anything but pretending .....that, you are very naive.

And considering the topic is derived from the debate , I see no reason not to widen the scope of my thoughts

As for POTUS Dems would be daft to continue wiyh Joe, surely they can park him in old Presidents home and have Jill tell him he's still boss

A young white centrist male should shred Trump, I'd prefer Warren Klobuchar or Or Rourle but the swing voters won't , must be Newsome in muy opinion and right fast to get nachine oiled for action , too late by Labot day .

Biden had a subpar night. There's no getting around that. Yet, no push back regarding Trump's litany of lies.

Governance is a team game. Most of Trump's former cabinet and advisors have come out strongly against him saying he's unfit for office.

As an example of Trump's insanity and dementia here is a summary of a speech he gave recently...

Let’s recap sad Trump’s Chesapeake, Virginia rally today:

    He called POTUS Joe “Briden.”

He doubled down on saying “Black jobs” and “Hispanic jobs.” (Excuse me for a second. WTF are "Black jobs" and "Hispanic jobs?")

He thinks that an electric airplane would fall out of the sky if it wasn’t sunny out.

He creepily called a little boy in the audience “beautiful.”

    He babbled about a whale.

He praised a fictional serial killer.

He called Chuck Schumer a “Palestinian.”

    He rambled about boats sinking.

He said that North Korea, Russia, and China aren’t our enemies and that he’ll make them “do great.”

    He denied climate change.

He forgot how to say “Israel,” “allies,” “Norfolk,” and “landslide.”

He took credit for Obama’s legislation for veterans.

He said he lowered the price of insulin.

He called people in Seattle and Minneapolis “thugs.”

    He repeatedly called J6ers “hostages.”

He fear mongered about nuclear war.

He said he won’t give money to any school with a vaccine mandate.

He confused John McGuire with Bob Good and called him “Bob McGuire” in two different parts of the speech.

He said we are a “failing nation.”

He said he’d keep suburban women safe…yet overturning Roe has put some of their lives in jeopardy.

He said he doesn’t need votes. Good. Don’t vote for him.

    And of course…He lied…a lot.
Sure, the argument can be made that both candidates are bad, that it's the choice of two lesser evils. I'm inclined to agree. Yet, Trump and MAGA world are so far into bizarro-world I fail to see how he's a viable choice.

Which is nothing different to 2016, except now we know America can elect an unabashed serial liar and scumbag as president. So if the Dems know that can happen what are they doing about it?

^,^^,^^^ …… which fool do they want running the country?

The big danger is the MAGA morons will get their way!

Instead of dopy Joe, it needs a Democrat with a personality to continue running the country by committee for the next 4 years. Biden is ok until you put him on camera without a script! Media presence should not matter, but sadly it does.

In 2017 with seven weeks to go before the election, Andrew Little, the leader of the New Zealand Labour Party, took a punt and put in Jacinda Ardern as Labour leader. Labour was able to cobble together a coalition to form a government and in the next election cantered home. (Let's not talk about the clowns that make up the current government after the 2023 GE, argh...)

Could the Democratic Party pull a viable candidate from the bench and beat the execrable MAGA turds in 2024? I prefer Bernie Sanders, but he's also too old. AOC isn't old enough (and likely too polarising for the centrist Dems and independents to get on board). Kamala Harris irritates people for some reason, but I'm not too bothered by her. Gavin Newsome, the governor from California, has some charm, but may be a bit too slick. Oddly, for some reason the mention of California gets the conservatives and many independents livid with rage.

What the corporate Dems will do, I can't tell.

At any rate, Trump is scheduled for sentencing 11 July for his 34 felony charges, four days before the Republican Party Convention. I hope the judge has the cojones to sentence the insane orange tub of goo to at least six months in prison, if not longer.

With appeals dragging on and fear of election interference looking political I very much doubt Trump will serve time before the election howeversomuch he deserveth it.

For whom doth the bell tolle Donny, it tolls for you.

AOC and bernie for all their zeal are unlikely to attract swing voters so Newsome or someone in the centre,Klobuchar, Warren also to radical for the bible belt perhaps Spamdreath could be conscripted and give us all a break or my original pick msKit with Topper for VP and Landy as rounders monitor.

Rural Shoe in as minister for manure and agricutural flings obviously rear admiral Snubster for Defense and Storekeeper for teh Nvael Volunteers, Ensign Spinbacl tp hist the flag and Tomboy to raise the level of American diet with his delicious fragrant selctions og helathy Med Fusion and Oriental treats I'm sure he'd bend over backwards to help out.

American Republic is browner more Hispanic but younger healthier and more optimistic than every country I visited this year in Europe bar Czechia where excellent cheap ale numbs the plebs, grass the pseuds and tip top Absinthe the ennui. Turkey in dire economic straits surrounded by crazy neighbours Iran Iraq Syria, and Russians in Crimea seemed a jolly lot , despite inflation etc cafes teeming, shop til you drop in a Thai live for the day fashion, prudent they aint.

A jail sentence would be appropriate, but it would make Trump a martyr, and energise his MAGA moron supporters.

Even if he is jailed, he can still be elected president. Think of all the free publicity that would give him?

The US constitution is no longer fit for purpose. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone to remove the NRA influence, and religion, from US politics but it is unlikely to happen.

The electorate will get exactly what they deserve. Maybe that is the impetus required to get rid of Trump in the long term.

Saw an interview with a conservative recently claiming that lady justice is blindfolded because she is supposed to be blind and treat all equally. But the ‘problem’ with this Trump conviction is she was not blind in this case and ‘clearly targeting an individual because of who he is’…

He even managed this interview with a straight face.

Technically it wouldn't. He's a first time offender and it's a fairly trivial case compared to the others.

The judge will also have to take into account the fact that he'd have to serve time in solitary with secret service protection.

I suspect probation or at worst home detention.
