If chopping off limbs failed to increase productivity, it's no surprise that Africa has never developed a manufacturing base. Ot anything by way of efficient enterprise, besides white run farms and mineral extraction.
Dictatorland: The Men Who Stole Africa, Paul Kenyon
More of a focus on Europe and the tyrants it helped to prop up in the search for oil, cocoa, gold and diamonds with the occasional nod to US meddling.
Only occasional mentions in the book of Aid to Africa though, which is often an absolute nonsense, serves to line the pockets of the countless corrupt on the continent and further encourages a culture of dependence.

(still hurting from the 'Ukraine ' thread, eh ?
Ecco
You know Tomcat; you have other interest than I do.
You like to make reviews of food that looks good, but that I wouldn't pick from a menu.
I do not attend your thread and comment on your Symphony of Seaweed or such.
I'll let you have a guess on why that is
do you have any personal experiences living in any of the african countries - non arabic speaking ?
Not a surprising development. African dicatators turning to Russia, away from the West, to cement their grip on their countries.
So why are the non-dicatators turning away from the US then?

Botswana threatens to send 20,000 elephants to Germany
OF

Germany's residents should feel what it feels like to live side by side with thousands of elephants, says Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who is threatening to send 20,000 elephants to Germany.
The president told German media Bild.
The announcement comes after the German environment ministry - headed by Steffi Lemke of the Greens - earlier this year raised the possibility of tightening rules on the import of hunting trophies due to concerns about poaching.
"It's very easy to sit in Berlin and have an opinion on what we do in Botswana. We are paying the price for preserving these animals on behalf of the world - and Lemke's party," President Masisi said.
According to the president, animals trample people to death, eat crops and destroy villages.
