I omitted BJ 's name from the poll as I couldn't imagine Uk popluation might be so dumb as to reappoint the convict chancer. A law breaker who cannot even admit how many kids he has.

Of course it won't be the electorate rather a selectorate who vote.

However I now realiize the majority Conservative party don't care, its "Sauve qui peut" look after city mates donors, get a gong and piss off to the Lords or a nice low tax isle on a lush state pension

BBC (Boris' Brutish Cvntz ) may well annoint him as Dorries pays lip sevice to the tool.

Boris should be exclude because of his previous, and the fact that he has outstanding felonies to answer.

Sunak is probably the lead candidate.

    ^ What outstanding felonies?

Sunak was fined over partygate as well so he also has previous.

However, I agree, MPs should think carefully before supporting a return of Boris.

Boris is still under investigation by the privilege committee for lying to parliament.

Contempt of Parliament is not a felony.

He could be suspended though, which wouldn't look good

Semantics really. He could be suspended if found guilty, but he could also lose his seat as an MP.

While the burden of proof is lower than a court of law, the investigation is not due to start until November. It is a reminder of how tarnished his reputation is now, and he and his supporters would be foolish to bet against it.

Accepting a fixed penalty notice may have been convenient at the time, but it also means that he and Sunak accepted their guilt by doing so!

I'm looking forward to Johnson being in the headlights again in November. He's much more fun than Truss.

But when it seemed like nothing could be more ridiculous than BoJo 1.0 along came Truss.

And then when it seems nothing could be more ridiculous than Truss, there is the prospect of BoJo 2.0

    Remember, people voted for Trump.

I think Boris has a chance. At least he's not boring and he's a bloke.

Gross Tory MPs undecded at present moment
Tory Leadership: Who's Backing Who October Election - Google Drive

Of 144 uncommitted a Gross of Tory MPs Boris needs less than a fifth to get on the sheet i.e. 28 more , they need not go public.

I predict he and Sunak will go to the members Monday PM for a flawed insecure ballot

Boris wins amongst members and resumes office despite grave doubts fears

Some Tory MPs have threatened to resign the whip, but I doubt enough will support no confidence or cross the floor.

Even if Hunt serves his Halloween OBR tested budget will be crucial in whether S and P / Moodys/ Dagong/ Fitch make borrowing more expensive

    Sovereign ratings already on watch

    Blojo still under scrutny

Penny Mordaunt has shown her ability like her not she will return, possibly after a Tory election defeat unlike Patel Truss Braverman and other posers

Pity Tugendat Mercer and Wallace couldn't gain traction

Run on Bonds and Pound may mark loss of Hunt or large Boris mandate

    the tories are sadly finished.

the perfect storm of covid, 2 years of paying people with borrowed money to do nothing, putin, 20 years of cheap money borrowed by both governments and people have conspired to bring truss down as if she, in 40 days, was responsible for it all.

most of her policies for growth and recovery were, i believe, spot on, but delivered too fast with little explanation or proper costings and the bankers and the city slickers gave their devastating verdict. she, thanks to her poor public presentation, was made a scapegoat but the problems remain.

better to let the kneeler and the fishwife try (and fail) to make a fist of this poisoned chalice and then after he has been kicked out the tories will rise again.

many countries including the usa, china and the eu are facing similar problems, only india is growing its economy at the moment, and will have to deal with them.

austerity is coming, and along with that a smaller state with fewer subsidies, handouts and help. ditch the i phones and those expensive takeaways brought to the doors of the thousands of slothful obese that visually pollute the streets and vistas of this green and pleasant land as they waddle from one cake shop to the next, with their layers of fat and their stack of chins wobbling obscenely in the breeze.

its time to trim the fat in more ways than one.

sunak or mordaunt for me, with a side order of kemi badinoch.

A book recommendation for Brit politicos.

"Drawing on a comprehensive array of examples, from Montezuma’s senseless surrender of his empire in 1520 to Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor, Barbara W. Tuchman defines folly as the pursuit by government of policies contrary to their own interests, despite the availability of feasible alternatives."

The March of Folly by Barbara W. Tuchman: 9780345308238 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books
"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect,"

I wouldn't mind seeing Boris back at #10. I consider most politician to be failed clowns. At least Boris is upfront with this. Go Boris.

Which just goes to show how underwhelming your thought process is.

Johnson was, and remains, seriously damaged goods. I was just thinking who would possibly be dumb enough to get him back? Apparently over 50 MPs have not only backed him, they have done so publicly. WTF? You don’t know Johnson at all well do you? But it seems you are in equally short sighted company!

BoJo hasn't managed to get 100 supporters yet, while Sunak has over 120. J R-M has announced he is backing Bojo, which should be enough to kill him off. Penny Mordaunt is trailing badly with less than 30 officially backing her at the moment.

I have no idea why Sunak would need to, or want to, have talks with BoJo. unless it is to tell him to be a good chap and drop out.

The problem is that Sunak isn't squeaky clean either and the media can open up the scandal wounds and add more salt if the wish.

The Tory party is in total disarray and I don't think they can patch things up in time to save this Government. I think an early GE is inevitable, just a matter of when.

Not knowing much about the mechanism to call a GE, isn't it up to the new leader to decide if?

Yes. The PM must go to the King saying he/she/it has disolved parliament to trigger a new election.

^ Technically, the Monarch can dissolve Parliament with or without the permission of the PM. This was last used by William IV when he dismissed Lord Melbourne's Government in 1834.

A vote of no confidence with Tory MPs voting on behalf of their constituents and for the good of the country instead of themselves.
