An Indiana doctor, who performed an abortion on a ten year old rape victim, has been fined $3,000 for "breaching patient privacy" after speaking about it, despite not naming the girl.
Indiana's own draconian anti-abortion legislation is currently on hold after legal appeals.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indiana board decided Thursday night to reprimand an Indianapolis doctor after finding that she violated patient privacy laws by talking publicly about providing an abortion to a 10-year-old rape victim from neighboring Ohio.
The state Medical Licensing Board voted that Dr. Caitlin Bernard didn’t abide by privacy laws when she told a newspaper reporter about the girl’s treatment in a case that became a flashpoint in the national abortion debate days after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last summer.
The board, however, rejected accusations from Indiana’s Republican attorney general that Bernard violated state law by not reporting the child abuse to Indiana authorities. Board members chose to fine Bernard $3,000 for the violations, turning down a request from the attorney general’s office to suspend Bernard’s license. The board issued no restrictions on her practice of medicine.

Meanwhile, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is facing an impeachment trial, may be able to get off any consequences as his wife is a state senator. All she has to do is not turn up.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Texas Legislature already made one historic move with its impeachment of Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton. Another one is coming.
The GOP-led House of Representatives on Saturday approved 20 articles of impeachment on sweeping allegations of wrongdoing that have trailed the state’s top lawyer for years, including abuse of office and bribery. The vote immediately suspended Paxton from office.
But the intraparty brawl in the nation’s largest conservative state, one that even drew political punches Saturday from former President Donald Trump, is far from over. The Republican-controlled Senate will hold a trial of Paxton next, and he and his allies hope conservatives there will save him.
One member of that chamber is his wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, and she could cast a vote on her husband’s political future, which is now in jeopardy in part because of bribery allegations linked to his extra-marital affair.

Republican Party is only for the rich and powerful. Let's have a standard tax for everyone and make it fair.
Their hankering for money has always been their trademark.
It's the odious intrusions into private lives that is becoming problematic.
Abortion bans, Persecution of minorities and LGBTQ, Book banning - these are all more in keeping with 1930's Germany, Chinkystan or the high-heeled war criminal's mini-version of the USSR - or even North Korea.

What a complete cock.
The House speaker, Mike Johnson, said he would blur the faces of the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6 before releasing new footage to the public, in order to shield the rioters from justice.
In a Tuesday press conference Johnson, who was personally involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election, said: “We have to blur some faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don’t want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DoJ.”
Johnson’s office later acknowledged that the justice department already has the surveillance film.

Thanks for bringing this thread back. I've seen her have a go at a British journalist before. Greene is a lunatic.
