Cool.
Myself and 2 mates got out of RS (Religious Studies) from the first year of high school.
Oddly enough it wasn't really based on studying and learning about the different past/present religions of the world, but about how one single book from one single religion is completely factual and that's all that needs to be studied for years and years, and believed as... well.... gospel.
Funny that.
Over the years I have met a lot of mainland Chinese people. I don't really recognise this whinging pettiness amongst the mainly middle class people I know. Most are like people everywhere, just trying to get on with their lives. I suspect this netizen whining is coming from a fairly narrow group of vocal idiots and is not truly representative of the feelings of the majority.
That said, there is a serious issue with what history the Chinese are taught in school. I have been lectured twice in almost exactly the same language about the looting of the Summer Palace and how that will not be forgotten and how, now that China is getting stronger, they will have their revenge. Both times that word revenge was used. These were different social occasions and the similarity of the language makes me think it came from school. I pointed out that the UK has fought two world wars since the Summer Palace incident in 1900 and that after a hundred years we could probably kiss and make up, but they were having none of it.
Which is food for thought.
China threatens countermeasures following Huawei decision
The Swedish decision to port Chinese Huawei and ZTE from Sweden's 5G network could have consequences for Swedish companies in China, warns Zhao Lijian, spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry.
- Sweden should take an objective attitude and deal with its wrong decision to avoid negative consequences for Swedish companies in China, he says at a press conference in Beijing, according to the news agency Reuters.
The statement is made since the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) on Tuesday closed the door for products from Chinese Huawei and ZTE in Swedish 5G networks.
According to PTS, which made the decision in consultation with Säpo and the Swedish Armed Forces, products from Huawei and ZTE may not be used in new installation and new implementation of central functions for radio use in the affected frequency bands.
Potential 5G operators also have a little over four years to remove existing equipment from the Chinese telecom manufacturers, the authority adds.
The decision has been made by PTS ahead of the auction of Swedish 5G frequencies, which will take place in three weeks. (TT)
I noticed that too, very harsh words .
China still thinks its living in a time when countries treated each other as competitors but with respect. On the diplomatic level, the US and the USSR treated each other with respect.
But today, everyone seems to think that sovereigns should talk to each other like 14 year olds. What a fucking joke. No more high diplomatic standards are respect between nations. No, lets have nuclear powers scream at each other like 14 year olds.
Just another degradation of the post monarchy world.
Majority of South Korean's say they are specifically from SK, and not just Korea. NK is like a totally different country to them obviously.
China has no reason to get in a dither because China helped NK during the Korean war and not South Koreans/US. China just wants the fanfare without good reason. The boy band is doing better than any band outside of SK and China is jealous.

Canada regrets 'misunderstanding' over Wu-Tang Clan T-shirt
Canada says it regrets any "misunderstanding", after China lodged a formal complaint over a diplomat's custom Wuhan T-shirt.
The T-shirt featured the name Wuhan emblazoned on the logo of rap-group the Wu-Tang Clan, which some on Chinese social media claimed looked like a bat.
Covid-19 was first detected in humans in Wuhan in late 2019.
Experts suggest the virus may have been carried by bats and passed on to humans via another animal.
On Monday, foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said China had "lodged representations with Canada" and asked for a thorough investigation into the T-shirt.
The clothing, created last year, has a stylised W. It's unclear how images of the T-shirt emerged online.
"It was created for the team of embassy staff working on repatriation of Canadians from Wuhan in early 2020," the Canadian embassy told Reuters news agency. "The T-shirt logo designed by a member of the embassy shows a stylised W, and is not intended to represent a bat."
Wuhan - City of silence
Five days that shaped the outbreak
Since the outbreak in Wuhan, China has been sensitive towards claims that the virus originated there. State media has been cheerleading the idea that the virus may have arrived in Wuhan on frozen food imports or has claimed that Covid-19 has "multiple origins".
However experts insist that the earliest detected cases were in Wuhan and early cases outside of China were found to have travelled from the Chinese city.
A World Health Organization team is currently in Wuhan investigating the pandemic's origin.
China and Canada already have tense relations after the arrest of Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei, on a US extraditions request.
Days later two Canadians in China, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, were arrested on national security charges. The two have since been charged with spying.
Critics have accused China of treating the two Canadians as political bargaining chips, held as part of what is known as "hostage diplomacy".

Don't mention the bats...
I mentioned them once but I think I got away with it...
^^ Now I gotta say, that is just bloody ridiculous. Innit?
If this is the T-shirt they were wearing (these ones are being sold and are in stock)
It is clearly a bat, and not just the Wu-Tang emblem.
It helps to read the abckstory
. . . and to spell it
