    Cancel his passport

Why can't Thailand cancel Thaksin's passport ? So by him having an invalied passport he should be automatically be deported to his country of origin. Or is it that Thailand won't do that because they don't want him back ?

If they did, the UK would probably give him political assylum, so a pointless exercise.

His alleged crimes are not political they're criminal ones as far as I'm aware.

Put yourself in the British position. Imagine the newspapers all over the UK saying that Taksin was deported back to Thailand while they were under a military dictatorship (or one which seems to be very like one). Especially for those that are not aware of the situation in Thailand, it would seem like rash choice.

It's not so long ago he got a new one. "Lost" his in a hi-so Moscow eatery (Fries with that Mr Prime Minister?). If they really wanted him to come home they could have issued one of those emergency self-destruct in 48 hours jobs.

I personally don't think they want him home as I'm sure he'll much egg on their faces. I actually think he's toying with them and will have the last laugh.

When I first came to Thailand I hated the man but now I believe he has charisma. Not that I now like him but you need the likes of him to stimulate what could be seen as a totally boring topic. Would any of us be talking Thai politics if it wasn't for him ? I think not.
