There are few sights more pathetic than an English male over 20 saying 'gotten'.
^ Is it so bad used as a past participle with had/have?
Personally, I have got used to it.
^ & ^^ 555 fooking hell now that is funny. I strongly suspect and Teachy does like to drop in the odd reference to being fit and supple, that he did until well into his 30's blow himself. Actually probably still does.
^^ Gotten used to it.
I think it might be more cost effective if we copied the Chinese. Once found guilty before the court, out the back and meet your bullet. Charge the family for the bullet.
It's Septic speak but permissible. Lexicons are only a guide, not an arbiter.
I shall try to inject my mothers favourite, "Off Of" oh that used to bring a smile.
so Macron is upset because Brexit is cutting the funding for the PAC, which is the big paycheck for France and our beloved farmers
Macron claims that the budget cut of 90b EUR is unacceptable and that part of the budget should not be exposed to Brexit budget cuts
this is getting interesting
Brexiteers will be cheering
and the timing is so wrong, today he has to go to the Annual Agricultural Convention, the biggest in the world here in Paris
he will have to break the bad news directly to the farmers themselves, live on TV
live on TV, farmers asking tough questions to Macron, direct one to one, face to face with the poor farmers
he seems to have an answer for everything
Sacre bleu- are the French gonna hissy fit out of the EU? But seriously, tough decisions have to be made. Start off by sacking quite a few of those useless eurocrats.
France is a net contributor to the EU budget but a quite small one who could do much better.
They are even smaller when looking at per capita contribution and % of GDP.
It's due time for Macron to open the wallet!
indeed, a lot of silly EU projects going nowhere
the H2020 is one example of wasted money, all the big corps like IBM, Oracle, ATOS get funding for nonexistent tech projects so they can pay for their internal R&D and staff, squeezing out any innovative tech funding
now the new EU female President acknowledged this, and want to change this
most firms getting the funding were also British with ghosts projects
Y'know, if we see a new honed down, lean and mean, biz-like EU that has dropped it's silly megastate dreams, and actually holds it's flakier states accountable to their budgets and promises- quite a few Brexiters might even have second thoughts.
So, what you folks think. Will Scotland leave the UK?
"The Scottish Government has proposed holding a second referendum on Scottish independence from the United Kingdom (UK). A referendum on Scottish independence was held in 2014, with 55% voting against the proposal. After this, the UK voted to leave the European Union (EU) in a 2016 referendum. One of the reasons cited by those opposed to Scottish independence during the 2014 campaign was that it would endanger Scotland being part of the EU."

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect,"
Nah. The SNP makes lots of noise, and now is an opportune time for them to do so. But the reality is, if Scotland goes it alone the GDP per head of Scotland will drop considerably- and that of England will rise slightly. You might say they're joined at the hip pocket nerve. SNP are a bit like those annoying Quebecois. Still, a go it alone Scotland would provide a convenient source of cheap labor for England. Get to like haggis!
More realistic might be a (re-)union of Northern Ireland and the republic. At least it makes some economic sense- but then you've got those impassioned Orangemen. Frankly, a whole load of 'mainland Brits would be pleased to see it.

the UK budget fallout is going to be a shock for the EU27, and you know what, this is good.
The UK leaving sent a strong signal to the EU commission not to take EU members for granted, no matter how ridiculous they are in their demands (ie. UK)
now time for the UK to get fucked in the negotiation with Barnier, and that should complete things nicely
I can't wait for SA input on this matter
I really think the challenges facing the EU are more serious than those facing the UK. Perhaps a good rethink is in order, starting with "What really is the EU?"
