Your government has a say in that through their representative, you have to elect the government that represents your wish.
What is it you don't understand with representative democracy?
Direct democracy may work inside your family but becomes clumsier the bigger the group gets and eventually becomes impossible.

Also, the Commission is a fucking collegiate comprising a representative selected by each country. Of course the leader will be selected democratically, through a symposium constituted by the leaders of the European Council who consider a candidate based on seniority and taking into account the results of the EP elections.

Thank fuk I live outside the place then and while no one will deny Crewe is a shithole, a benefit shithole it isn't due to there being plenty of work here and commuter distance to Manchester and Birmingham.
