I know, they could name themselves after the European who discovered America - let's call the country Eriksonia!

Eriksonia - inhabited by Eriksonians - it has a nice ring to it......

Certainly not unique to the US, it's a legislative failing in my opinion. But then again as I already said you can't legislate for absolutely everything. Well, you could try but it would be one awful bloody mess.

The key is to make an imperfect system the best imperfect system it can be I think.

The Explorer Amerigo Vespucci For Whom America Was Named

Amerigo Vespucci will long be remembered as the man America was named after but who was this inconsequential explorer and how did he get his name on two continents?

I know they named the continent after Amerigo (Just like Africa was named after Afrigo, the famous Albanian explorer, and Asia after Asiamon, the ancient ruler of Mesopotamia - but I am digressing), but what we need is a name for the US of A, a country that actually doesn't have a name.

So until someone comes up with a better alternative, I suggest we call it Eriksonia and the inhabitants Eriksonians. It has a more refined sound to it than "yanks" and is more accurate than "American".

    Jesus Christ,

It is the North American continent,

"United States of America" and they call it America and the people Americans

The "United States of Mexico" is called Mexico and the people are called Mexicans.

"Canada", and the people are called Canadians.

I can't see anything so difficult about that.
